there is nothing stupider in all league sports than allowing more teams in the playoffs than not. except maybe playing a full 82 games before doing it. the regular season gets so watered down and without meaning, it's ridiculous. That's my opinion having been an NBA season ticket holder.

baseball is never going to back away from a 162 game schedule. it makes for meaningful numbers...it's how we judge teams and players from different eras, which is more siginficant in baseball than any sport. so given that, i don't want more teams in the playoffs. it's dumb. making the playoffs should mean something....and not just that you're mediocre, but a bit better than a sucky team.

I am a baseball fan. AL doesn't play baseball. They play some weird, bastardized version of my favorite sport.

I will forever be against the Astros joining the AL, and I will immediately abandon the team if they do.

And too many teams make it in the NBA. MLB does it RIGHT.

Simply put - TV is the equation breaker. Astros' TV contract would be fouled up with a disproportionate number of games outside their time zone, let alone two time zones.

    That is sports reality 101.

DH rule has to go. If you can't field...retire.

Believe what you want to believe about the AL and the DH... but it's only a matter of time before the NL switches to the DH rule as well. You KNOW the players union is ALL for it... considering it creates about 16 new jobs in the AL, mostly for aging veterans who can still rake but can't move quite as well as they used to.

It's being discussed already, as the league sees a need to have uniform rules in both leagues, and you can bet your butt that they'll put the DH in the NL waay before they even think about taking away the DH altogether.

The dh doesn't create any new jobs for the union. The AL plays with the same 25 roster spots as the NL does.

What you said. At most, a team may carry an extra batter/position player on the roster instead of an extra pitcher.

The DH takes a lot of the strategy out of the game.

But a starting DH makes more money than a bench reserve.

sure and a dh is likely a veteran already in the union while the cut reserve is more likely to be a rookie not already in the union. but it doesn't create an extra job and most likely that starting dh would be on the team anyways (a 03 david ortiz would start on everyteam).

Okay, I mis-spoke. It creates about 16 new starting positions.... either way.. the union is all for it
