He finished fhe year in AAA. Until he proves he has fully recovered the shoulder and can hit effectively, he is on the outside looking in. If no one else is signed, he would likely be penciled in for a bench role. Chas owns CF for now.
The 3 year contract is good for the Astros and J.Abreu. This contract gives the Stros stability and for Abreu, the team believes in him. I'm quite sure he would take less money to come to the Stros than other teams because of our makeup of the team. Abreu can be our Nelson Cruz before he hit age 40. And every year there is a trade deadline.....
Over nine yrs with the CWS Abreu has avg the following: 31 HR 110 RBI 39 2B .860 ops .506 slg .292 avg
2022 High Leverage Situations: .304/.374/.444 in 115AB Postseason Stats: .321/.406/.464 in 28AB Super clutch and just needs that deep playoff run to cement his legacy. This is an amazing fit baseball and clubhouse wise. I think .285 25HR 100+RBI upcoming next year. Also, I vote that any complaining for an Abreu GIDP is a bannable offense
I understand why a lot of teams would be very interested in Bellinger, just not a team specifically looking for offense. Such a big $$$ investment for a guy that is maybe 50-50 as an everyday player. You'd definitely hate to pass on Verlander in favor of him. If I'm targeting a 1-year comeback player deal, I'm going with Conforto.
Meyers was a Click favorite. With Click gone, he will have to earn his position especially after how well Chas played in the playoffs. Meyers will have to start bashing the ball in Spring training and triple A before he gets time in centerfield for the Astros.
I'm still pretty pumped about this 24 hours later. So exciting to add a bat the quality of Jose Abreu to our line up.
Dodgers seem like a smart organization too. Not sure why anyone else could magically fix him when the Dodgers couldn't. And looking at the Astros specifically, they have a magic sauce with pitchers, but I don't see any particular history of fixing hitters. I'd stay far away.
Besides being a VERY reliable power hitter who can hit for average (what's not to like about that), it's also the fact he was a leader in that clubhouse with his work ethic and mentoring the younger players.
I just watched the presser. Good stuff. Crane said they are not done. Talked about adding an outfielder and they have spoken to Yuli’s agent.
I loved that he said something along the lines of 'I dont want to lose my desire for baseball, the day I lose my desire for baseball is the day I walk away.' He also said, that the White Sox offered him a contract and we'll just leave it that- pretty telling that he wanted to come to a winner and be a part of something special.
