really not sure how they call that understanding/knowing/balancing out who/how they view "talent" the org makes offers to... 45% +/- kinda a shitnumber just hear me out: - I'm ok w Singleton / Meyers benching it if they know they'll light up when they're called upon. - stop chomping... it affects his head (go get SARM'd up and throw some mad weight around at posters of Dusty these days before you report to ST) -&- we all knew Tuck's been checked WAY out for a good hot season (yall bruised that agent's ego in the '24 szn to the point he sat his client) - Christian / Bryan deserve to be here ... CJ we need that magicfucckeryillusion ball back rocking on your road outings-- neverforget. - Altuve & I pray to God I hope superman 4LV4REZ loves this city... bc this team is theirs to lead
Yes - Alvarez is happy in Houston. He would leave if he had to, but everything I have heard is that he and Altuve prefer to play in Houston… then again, Bregman did too and was surprised that the Astros didn’t counter again before signing Walker…. So who knows what the future holds. Guys like Altuve, Alvarez and Bregman have won in part because of how smart they are. Yordan is probably the smartest guy on the team. The Astros have a pretty smart team - Walker only adds to that. As for Tucker - great talent, and he produced when healthy… rubbed some coaches and players the wrong way and plays the game very much for himself- but not a bad guy… just made the decision he was chasing every dollar before he was ever even called up, sucks but I appreciate the confidence he had…. Cubs beat writer said that the Cubs got nowhere talking extension with Tucker and the Cubs expect to lose him
How surprised could Bregman be? Scott Boras is known for bluffing his way into getting teams to bid against themselves which draws the entire process out. As we saw last year with the Boras 4 (Bellinger, Chapman, Montgomery, Snell), this process could go well into Spring Training for free agent's of Bregman's caliber.
I am sure part of it is ego. I also think that part of him believed the Astros would negotiate more and that he would ultimately get a larger offer from the Astros. The offer made by the Astros was competitive, at this point Bregman's agent is hoping that a team ends up deciding that they have more money in their budget and increases the offer and Bregman signs with that team.
I'm sure the door is not closed. Crane would never refuse him if Alex came on bended knee. However, the team has spent the money that was budgeted for him. Signing him would lose the team a draft pick, and they can't offer him the QO again in the future. Signing him would all but guarantee they are unable to reset the CBT so more costs associated with him returning. He would need to accept a much lesser offer, but if he did, I'm sure Crane would sign him. Maybe 3 yrs /$60M ($25M, $18M, $17M) w/ an opt out?
Obviously I don't have any inside knowledge but my opinion is no. I don't think Boras can just say "ok" and the deal is agreed. However, it is possible that he says "ok" and then Brown goes back to Crane who then green lights it.
I think he's have to hurry because we have 1 more move in us.If he agreed immediately, I think Crane would find a way.
