Yahoo is reporting $100 Mill http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_y...2d0RvLYF?slug=ap-astros-lee&prov=ap&type=lgns Astros sign Carlos Lee to 6-year deal November 24, 2006 AP - Nov 24, 2:43 pm EST HOUSTON (AP) -- Outfielder Carlos Lee, one of the top free agents on the market, has signed with the Houston Astros, a source close to the negotiations said Friday. Lee signed a six-year, $100 million deal with the Astros, the source told The Associated Press. Lee, a two-time All-Star left fielder who played with the Texas Rangers and Milwaukee Brewers last season, is coming off his fifth straight season with at least 30 home runs and 99 RBIs. The Astros have scheduled an afternoon news conference. General manager Tim Purpura declined to comment. Houston went into the offseason looking for help with an offense that finished last in the NL in batting average and struggled to score runs despite the presence of All-Star first baseman Lance Berkman, who had 45 homers and 136 RBIs and finished third in NL MVP voting.
Great news. Now let's hope Pettite and Clemens feel compelled to come back. One, this isn't quite Beltran money. Two, Beltran refused us, not the other way around.
It's on LIVE right now on nbc. Woody also signed for 2 years for 12.5 year and Lee is signed of course. He looks thinner on tv... could be the suit .
actually, i think the strong reaction to your posts came from your pessimism about the astros to get a deal done, at all.
Tim just said live.... 6 year 100 million. No clause for the first 4 years. Wow, he's gonna be a rich man
Woody and Lee!!! Wow...good day!! When my son found out we got Woody he was like, "Dad! Let's go play baseball!!!" So we got to miss the 4th quarter of the Horns game. What a blessing!!
what does this have to do with clemens? woody still fits right in with roy, andy, and roger. if anything i think it increases the chances he comes back.
I think Woody would fill Backe's spot essentially, definitely leaving room for Pettite and Clemens. If not, we still need some rotation help as Oswalt and Woody and Hirsch won't get it done.
