Does anybody else feel weird when Bill Brown calls Wade Miller "Whitey"?? I know its his nickname and all, but it just seems out of place whenever he says it. BTW... what kind of nickname is "Whitey" anyways? For what its worth, whitey was wild in the 1st, but eventually got out of it unscathed.
Biggio takes one for the team. But blum...hits into a double play. Miller looks much better in the bottom of the 2nd. 3-0 through 2
I took Miller out of my starting lineup today because he was at Coors and he's pitching a shutout. Argh!
Good guys win! Biggest series of the year coming up.. St. Louis on the road. If we can just keep our level of play the way it has been all month we should take 2 of 3. Check out the schedules of FL and Philly. FL - 4 games @ Atlanta OUCH / 3 vs PHI / 3 @ NYM Gimme PHI - 3 vs CIN Gimme / 3 @ PHI / 3 vs Atlanta One or both of these teams could fall out of the wild card. Especially if they cancel eachother out in the head2head series.
Good to see Bagwell have a good game. Of course, I didn't see it cause I was at work . I like the Astros attitude. All we can do is take care of ourselves. We can't worry about what everyone else is doing and wish for anything from them. Which brings up a note...didn't someone on St. Louis say they would rather see the Astros win rather than the Cubs. Maybe they will roll over and play dead for us? Maybe...maybe no. They may be thinking payback after we demolished them last series. Go Stros!!! You bop my world.
Stros have 7 at home and 3 on the road, Cubs have 3 at home and 7 on the road....so....even though we are coming down to the wire, and the Cubs are playing creampuffs, at least if we take care of our home games we should be ok. DD
Whitey Ford, Whitey Herzog...several others in baseball through the years. Ausmus, Bags & some of the vets gave WaMi the nick.
I bet someone has said this before now but I will do it again just in case - our shot-out against the Rockies was the first in Colorado by any team in 4 years.
It was the first in Colorado by a visiting team since 1999. The Rockies have 3 shut outs in their home park this year.
