Someone explain the Vizcaino pinch hitting for Ensberg decision. Let's see Ensberg hits .280 with a .494 slugging percentage against right handers while Jose hits .262 with a .414 slugging. Ensberg was 3-3 for the night. Also, why wasn't Blum used if anyone? Is he hurt?
Well, the Astros have 2 more chances tonight to catch up to the Rockies. 5-2 heading into top of 8th inning.
Viz just missed that HR. The past two nights at Coors field have sounded like there are more Astro fans there than rockie fans. Wooo....bases loaded. 2 outs. Bags up to bat. EDIT: No runs score, bottom of the 8th coming up.
No, that wasn't Zaun. It was some other guy. I wish that was fair though, it would have been an RBI pop up. Well the cubs are nipping on our heels, they are now going to be .5 games behind us, unless a miracle happens in the 9th.
7-4 Rockies Kent doubles no one on base, Doggy with a triple!!!! Kent scores!! EDIT: Berkman out on 3 pitchs, his bat never lifts off his shoulder!! That is the worst, atleast swing!!! If only Lidge had a 1 2 3 inning... we would be tied....I guess "would/could" never counts. 7-5 Rockies.
Game Over, Rockies end Astro's winning streak and cubs are now only .5 games behind the 'stros. 7-5 Final. The astros brought their bats today after the great game last night, but the pitching never showed up.
Do you think everything else would have happened exactly the same had Lidge not given up any runs in the 8th?
As a skeptic, I can't help but have serious doubts about our chances for going to the playoffs and winning our division. If you compare Chicago and our schedule for the remainder of the season, then we have to play San Francisco(home) and St. Louis(road) while they have to play scrubs. Even though their on the road and were at home, there is no discernible advantage to that because the Cubs play better on the road. If my memory serves me correctly, then we tend to lose a lot to San Francisco. I want us to win but the uncertainty is wearing me down and I have my doubts. It's also not a good time for Bagwell to be slumping, either, because it can act as a contagent infecting others. Rather than just be the optimist, I'm trying to look at this as a realist. I hope we pull this off because I think this is one of, if not the, best teams we have ever had and it would be a shame to come this far only to squander down the stretch. Please Lord save our Astros. Amen, Surf
These are not mutually exclusive. We could make the playoffs and not win the division. The Wildcard is a real possibility. We are 2 games out. FLA and PHI still play each other 4 times and they both play Atlanta. Of course, this is the optimists view.
That is something we will never know. We are in the top of the wild card chase and division. So I still feel good about our team. I just hope those cubbies can go eat some honey and not play the game for a bit, lose cubs lose. Astros. So we lost one, let's just make sure it doesn't go beyond 1. no losing streaks please. Series Final is today, at 2:05
Astros strike first blood. 3-0 Astros. So the offense shows up in the first inning, but MILLER can't hit the strike zone, he has walked 2 in a row, and is abuot to walk another.
