My first response to your post was "that's a little extreme," but the more a I think about it, the more I agree with it. If a trade involving Pence gets worked out, it could go a long way toward turning this franchise in the right direction. With the team going nowhere, why play him and risk losing the chance to move him?

Multiple sources say no more talk of 3-team deal for Pence. If #Phillies-#Astros deal happens, it will just be 2-team swap #trades

#Phillies still talking Pence w #Astros. Will be 2-team deal if happens. Doubtful Phils can get both Pence and #Padres reliever. #MLB

    Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal
#Braves want "athletic corner bat" to control beyond this year. That describes Pence. Quentin less athletic. Ludwick, Willingham FAs. #MLB

WOW...even Greg Lucas says Hunter is as good as gone.

Mills just called McTaggert a liar...said he never pulled Pence's name from the lineup card.

Wade really seems to be handling this well.

I love how people (other boards, not here) are bashing Wade for not taking this deal or that one for Pence....yet, TEAMS ARE STILL ALL OVER HIM. Sounds to me like he's bound and damn determined to get the absolute best deal.

I understand what Ed Wade is doing by trying to turn this into a bidding war between the Phils and Braves.. I just hope he doesn't end up pissing off both teams and missing out on the chance of getting two top 50 prospects (Cosart & Singleton) in our system.

I think that's a great return for Pence who will probably start having major injury issues in his early 30's because of his quirky jerky balls to the wall playing style.

That would be an absolute ridiculous statement for even an MD to make. You a doctor?

Still time for the real Ed Wade to show up but I agree, he has handled this brilliantly.

    What did Greg say?

Ha, what did Brian ask Brad and what was Brad's response?

Echoes the sentiments Justice and Footer said awhile back. Barmes is a keeper.

Greg basically said sources and whispers around the clubhouse were saying he would almost certainly be traded. Even asked Hunter about it and he has heard the Phillies are "foaming at the mouth" to acquire him.

McTaggert tweeted earlier that it was true that Pence was pulled from the lineup and then placed back in it...Brad said he never pulled him.

smart. he's only 32 years old.

they are probably afraid to part with him because he's sadly the best all around ss that they've been able to find in the past 20 years.

Off topic but Tigers are willing to give up Jacob Turner for Jimenez...that's not smart IMHO.

I think this is their GM's last contract year as well as Leyland's. They may be thinking go all in. I agree with you, though.

    pic--NOT SURE IF SERIOUS--/pic

Barmes does nothing for this squad or the next few even. If you can get ANY youth for him, you do it. Nobody is coming to see Clint Barmes play at MMP and he's not leading us anywhere.

    LMAO@"only 32"
    Great...he'll be 36+ when we're competitive again!
