Selig is scum, Crane is scum. what happened to all his noise about refusing to move to AL? Excellent way to ingratiate yourself with the fans and start off on the right foot, Jim. Don't be surprised if he moves them out of Houston the second the MMP lease agreement ends folks.
Actually, don't be surprised he uses that $75 million he's saving towards buying out of the lease agreement and moving the team out of town after nobody shows up at the ballpark for the next 3 or 4 years. crane is complete filth.
People don't go to the games because of what league we're in...except all those Cubs and Cards fans. The Ballpark is what attracts most people because Astros baseball sure doesn't.
i understand that. the stadium is going to be empty because the team is going to suck and there are no players to draw fans to the games.
I hope so. Then we can get a real team to move here and I'll have someone to root for again. Houston Marlins? Houston Pirates? Maybe Bud Selig will die from an autoerotic asphyxiation accident, and we can steal the Brewers and move them to Houston.
They do, it just happens to be that it isn't necessary for the reason you just mentioned. The pitchers are usually the best players, and they just switch around the field.
screw that. Houston Astros. That's my team. Bud, Crane, MLBPA, and McClane jacking with three generations+ of Houston fandom. Screw them. Screw them all. If some NL franchise were to move here, let them leave their history with the town they're from, and adopt the name, "Astros" when they get here.
How much should we blame Dayton in all this? Or, is he just the guy desperately trying to sell the team?
I'm rooting for Crane to be Frank McCourt II. The decision to overlook McCourt's flaws is a major black eye for Selig. A repeat of that sort of bad judgement would taint Selig's memory forever. Hopefuly.Craine hits the ground running by dropping a few N-bombs and groping a few women.
I have wonderful memories from early childhood on, sitting behind the visitors dugout watching the Dodgers visit the Dome.... my grandfather and others heckling Lasorda a bit ....... Baseball is my first love as I've played and watched it from the get go, but seeing the effects that money/owners(Selig) with a conflict of interest have had on our national pastime has been tough to take. It's definitely a reflection of society. Drayton sold us down the river worse than I thought. The cupboard is not only bare BUT we've been delivered into the land of the DH away from our rivalries/roots/history. I've waited for Uncle to sell and now this ......They're killing the golden goose with no sense of that sacred responsibility for the history, integrity, and future welfare of the game.
Jeez all the whining going on here is about as equally annoying as all the fairweather fans and suits that attend games but don't cheer. Yeah it sucked at first, but I'm way beyond that now. I see it as a fresh start for a franchise that is definitely at a crossroads. I was more concerned with the sale not going through and being stuck with an owner who's heart is not in it anymore. Now Crane (a baseball guy) can come in and clean house and we can move toward a path of winning again, in a division where we'll have a good chance of competing. AL...NL...who the hell cares. Baseball is baseball. I love this game DH or no. And I'm sure as hell glad I have a professional team in town to root for, and a minor league team come next Spring.
I do. And it seems that I'm not the only one. I can no longer be a fan of the Astros, anymore than I could be a fan of the Oilers when they went to Tennessee. I'm sorry if you think the fact that I am upset by that makes me "whiny".
I honestly just don't understand that line of thinking. They're not going anywhere. There are still the Houston Astros. I root for the team first, and as long as they got a Houston in front of the name, I will follow them. Seriously I was plenty upset too, but I just want this stupid saga to end. I want some fresh management to take over this team and see if they can turn things around. And I'm sure I can come to despise the AL West teams as much as the NL Central. Life goes on, so be it.
