Even Lee probably couldn't save us from going down the trail of mediocrity. Would of been a bit more fun to watch Oswalt/Lee though.

This had to be one of the more pointless articles written by Dick...and that's saying a lot. IN 2007, CLIFF LEE HAD BEEN DEMOTED TO THE MINORS BECAUSE HE SUCKED. Even if you waited until his Cy Young year, there was no reason to believe it was sustainable.

It's like the morons who still blame the team for letting Johan Santana go.

Brooks can probably give you more prespective on this, being an Indian's fan, but Lee was struggling so bad they sent him to the minors that year. Tons of teams could have had him cheap and by passed, won't blame Ed on this one.

Yeah I read that column this morning. I wanted no part of Cliff Lee in 2007. Who would've thought his turnaround would've been that dramatic. From 5 game winner to 22-3 with a Cy Young. I think he was 30 by the end of that 2007 season and had been demoted. HGH? Kidding, of course.

I hate hindsight articles. Let's second guess decisions in the past based on the data available at that time in the past based on what is happening today.

Yea...break out the time machine.

Did you even read the article you posted? There's no second-guessing in it. In fact, it goes out of it's way to say the opposite.

even with his struggles at the time, I dont consider trading Lidge for him "cheap"

Well I didn't mean to say Lidge was worthless, more that other teams could have traded for Lee at a much reduced rate that what he is worth now. However, since you bring it up, Lidge was a closer who couldn't close games anymore and had turned into a decent middle reliever.

Here's something worse: Every team passed on Tom Brady for 5 rounds in the NFL draft.

What about when the Astros wouldn't resign Nolan Ryan for his asking price of 1 million dollars? You can't even get a Brad Lidge for 1 million dollars these days.

The Atlanta Falcons traded Matt Schaub to the Texans for a couple of worthless picks while Michael Vick was electrocuting dogs.

in 2003, the Detroit lions drafted Charles Rogers with the 2nd overall pick....and the Texans got some guy named Andre Johnson with the next pick.

    Oh my god!

In the 2003 NBA draft, the Pistons passed up on Bosh, Carmelo and Wade for the greatest center in the NBA Darko Milicic!

The Astros traded Larry Anderson for some light hitting first baseman named "Jeff Bagwell."
