That's what pisses me off about this. I know we are going to be forced to bring someone up to make a start for one of the games on Saturday. Not sure if the Reds will, but that's not right.
That happenned in the NBA in 1978. The 76ers beat the Nets 137-133 in a game early in the season, but the Nets protested the game because an official called a 3rd technical foul on New Jersey's coach (supposed to be max of 2 of course). So the commissioner upheld the protest and the game was supposed to be replayed from when the call was made - 5 months later. But during the 5 months, New Jersey traded Eric Money and another guy to the 76ers for Harvey Catchings, who played for the Nets. So those 3 guys were in both teams' stats in the box score the next day. Of course in baseball in would be more complicated because once a player is taken out he can't be put in, so those players would probably be ruled ineligible for the game.
that was one of the more amazing things I have ever seen. Ensberg is one bad mutha. His head was nearly taken off by that fastball and he gets right up dust himself off and the very next pitch - boooom! If he aint that baddest man in baseball right now I don't know who is.
Man what could have been had we had this Morgan last year. You have to love what Morgan's done this season, and most importantly he is giving Lance some protection and making sure he gets some pitches to hit.
Actually, I thought Morgan came through in the playoffs (as far as RBI's are concerned), and he had a couple of big HR's in the NLCS. His regular season was awful... but we somehow managed to survive without him. I'll always remember his bases loaded hit in game 3 against the Braves... when the series was still very much in doubt (especially with the way the team lost game 2). That game really gave us the hope we needed to eventually win that series (because if we lose game 3, I doubt we take 2 straight against Atlanta... especially with all those ghosts haunting us).
Didn't they give Chipper Jones an error on that bases loaded play? I might be wrong. I know Beltran put the game on ice with that 2 run blast in game 3.
No... I just checked the box score, and they gave Morgan a hit (in the bottom of the 6th with the bases loaded).
These are exactly the sort of games that Russ Springer should be pitching in... and its no strange fact that he EXCELS in them. Hell... now Garner is (hopefully) getting his Franco fix for the weekend in this game as well. Hooray! EDIT: Forget what I said... apparently no lead is safe to bring in Springer or Franco (even though this idiotic game is all on Franco).
UGH... I'm so disgusted that I have to make another post. Now... we likely have to pitch Lidge on a weekend when the bullpen is likely to be strapped tommorow anyways. I'm all for giving guys a shot in the bullpen to get some more time... but C'MON! If Franco still needs "practice" at getting lefties out (he's only been doing it for 20 something years), the Astros have to find a better option down in the minors. Hell... I don't remember Gallo ever having this much trouble.
Why in hell does Garner always bring in Franco or Springer. Franco gets torched by lefties and righties. Qualls is nasty versus lefties. Franco needs to get DFA. Gallo is pitching pretty good down in Round Rock with a 3.71 ERA. I have a feeling the Astros will go after Mike Stanton even though he also is washed up. They wanted him real bad like 3 years ago and he is from Houston.
(sung): Please release him, let him go... Gallo, anyone. Franco is history. Great career. Done. Ended. Finis. Sayonara. Bye.
