Qualls was the guy because Dunn was coming up that inning.... and as you can see, it worked out.

He is off again today, look at where Ausmus lined up and then Lidge threw it somewhere else completely.

Maybe just one pitch...come on Brad.

    YES !!

Burke would have had that ball that Everett just whiffed on...

    ;)

Lidge HAS to throw his slider for strikes, players have figured out when it is coming and are just leaving it alone.

Seems JD says that every time Lidge is pitching...why hasn't he figured that out by now. They're focused on that slider...gotta throw it for strikes or go to the fastball. Problem is he has trouble locating the fastball.

    THERE YA GO!

    I swear he's becoming Wagner.

    I miss 1-2-3 innings.

Once Kearns stole 2nd, there's no way you give Phillips anything to hit. Dude's been a pain in the Astros' arse all weekend.

Nice win all around. Good to see Qualls getting his act together. Lidge did alright in my opinion. Everett just god a bad hop on that 2 out single by Kearns.

Yea... but it served as a changeup. ;)

The mechanics looked better today... more fastball strikes on the corner of the plate. If he gets ahead of the count, batters are going to swing and miss at that slider... that's still a given (even if they are better at recognizing it).

But, if its 2-2, or 3-2... batters are currently going to take the chance that Lidge won't throw a strike. Regardless of what he's throwing for strikes (fastball or slider), getting ahead of the hitter is the most important aspect that Lidge needs to get back to doing.

Also, as he gets more work in (that he didn't get in the WBC), his mechanics are going to get better... and when he starts throwing strikes with regularity, things will get a whole lot better for him.
