NIce win by the Astros. Kent was hitting great today. ...Gotta love how they called that Red Homerun a double. That was great. Miller had a nice outing, even though he couldn't hit his spots. Let's hope they can keep it up. Let's go Stros. EDIT: Cards lost?! Awesome!!!
Man I really hope Miller can turn it on and just carry this team into the playoffs, and be our ace the way I know he can. I personally think he has better stuff then Oswalt, but his control is what burns him. He'll have 5 or 6 innings of beautiful pitching, then he'll run into an inning where he'll give up a big inning. If he could ever lessen the damage on that big inning like we know he's capable of, he could very well be a consistent 15-20 game winner.
you're right, miller's key is definitely trying to drop that one inning where he goes into somekind of mental lapse. i don't think his stuff is as good as oswalt's but they both have 20 win potential.
I almost started a new thread to make this point. He is terrible. We need to cut him and bring up somebody from New Orleans, hell even Round Rock, anyone at all to replace him. I vote for Lane.
I don't know...now that Hunter is gone, I think it is necessary to have someone on the club that is actually skilled at playing CF, and Lane ain't it.
In all fairness to Porter, he's only had 26 at-bats and has played very little. He has not done very well with only 6 singles, however. As far as defense goes, a lot of center fielders would have caught that homerun ball for an out. I don't think Biggio or Porter would have...but someone else would have with a little more defensive ability. Maybe Hidalgo makes that play? The fact that Porter's glove was left of the ball when it came down just over the fence didn't help any. I don't like the way the road trip went...AT ALL.
I don't think Hidalgo would have gotten there in time. Porter may be nothing special, but he can motor, from what I have seen. And he didnt' have too much time to set himself to jump for that homerun, so I'm thinking a slowly player wouldn't even have had a chance to pull it back.
We just dont have one of those taller guys, or guys with a large verticle playing CF. That would have been one of those highlights of the week catchs. oh well.

That play was just weird. I think Porter failed to make the play mainly because of inexperience. He was gliding back to the ball, which tells me that he didn't think it was going out. If the wall was 10 feet further back, he would have caught it in stride. If he had been busting it back to the wall, he could have camped there just long enough to gather himself to jump up for the ball. It stinks that we lost 2 out of 3 in the series, but that last game could be chalked up to bad luck. That homerun cleared the fence by about 6 inches and then in the 8th Kent absolutely murdered a ball but hit it right to third to start an around-the-horn double play. Granted, we still should have scored more than 3 runs yesterday.
