a guy that was going to be released regardless and never going to play for the astros again this year. what are you smh about
Really didn't like watching this guys past ball issues in the playoffs. However he's better than Stassi and a perfectly capable backup, so we got better.
Man...y'all all loved him last year, up until the playoffs. Yes, he had issues in the playoffs. Has he had issues with past balls this season? 5 all year. I'm not concerned.
Could have used TK to get another starting pitcher instead of bringing back a guy who can't hit his weight which we already had in stassi.
You ever think that guys like Verlander and Cole wanted this trade?? Catching isn't about hitting....it's about CATCHING. Also, what starters are you seeing that could have been acquired for Tony freaking Kemp? Come on now. This isn't a bad deal. It's not a blockbuster, but it was never meant to be.
oh lets assume they didn't try to use kemp or haven't been to get anyone. ok. nevermind the fact that TK is not netting you a starting pitcher.
It is a bad deal TK could have been put in a package deal with someone else and being a catcher is more than calling a game or catching as you has put it hitting is a part of game just like catching and throwing.
Please give us the inside scoop as to the inside workings of the Astros front office and the package deals they have discussed. Thanks
So you're ASSUMING that he would have gotten aggregated into a bigger deal for a starting pitcher?? But we're NOT allowed to assume that nobody would have wanted him in a deal like that, even though the evidence to date suggests that WE are correct on this?? And what if he WASN'T aggregated into a bigger deal, the 7 day period we had to trade him expired, and we had to release him for nothing? What would you have said then? Getting Maldonado to be our backup C is a nice move to bolster our lineup. Stassi sucked out loud, and the pitching staff weren't the biggest fans of his. Sometimes there's more to a deal than what you think should have been done. Tony Kemp wasn't worth all that much on the open market, and the Astros did a good job plugging a hole with someone that had redundancy on the roster. Period.
The pitching staff LOVES Maldonado, and he was far from ****. He had a bad playoff series, but outside of a couple of games, he was totally solid for us. Stassi absolutely sucked, and I have no idea how anyone can be critical of this move.
