If they do bring him up this year, I hope they just give him a few innings out of the bullpen to get a taste of the Show. No need to overdo it on the innings.
His 9 strikeouts and 7 swinging in his first start for RR was a great sign. I also think he struckout the side in the sixth to close out his night which was another good sign. At first I was all for bringing him up but at this point he has shown enough to warrant caution with him.
Ben Heath is making a case for Lancaster before seasons end, tonight he is 3-3 3 homers and 7 rbis thru 5.
RR and Lancaster are both playing late so I won't get into those games but I will mention Ross Seaton is starting for Lancaster so that is something to keep an eye out for. CC lost tonight but JD Martinez got back on track with 2 hits after going hitless last night. He did strikeout twice which may be his only sign of concern but not even a major one. Dallas Kuechel started and go rocked in 4 innings giving up 4 runs and 6 hits. The fun stuff happened at Lexington where the Legends lost blowing a big lead but Ben Heath exploded going 3-4 with 3 HOMERS, 7 RBIs and walking once. Very excited about his progress so far in such a short period of time since being drafted this year. Mier had a hit and Paredes had 2 both in 5 abs but another great night for Jacob Goebbert going 2-3 with 3 runs, a walk and rbi. Jacob has really been hitting well so Lancaster seems like an obvious choice to start next season.
ysportsncaabb Sources say #Astros 3rd rounder Austin Wates of #VirginiaTech was in Houston for a physical and will sign ysportsncaabb Sources saying decent chance #UCLA signees Adam Plutko and Zach Weiss go to college, but absolutely not a done deal
What's the cutoff date to have these kids signed? Isn't it 8/16? Good job with this thread. I wouldn't know the names of half these guys w/o your work.
Catcher Ben Heath who was just drafted this draft in the 5th round is already in Class A Lexington which is quite the accomplishment. He hit 3 homers yesterday and 7 rbi. Pretty impressive.
ValleyCats Marcus Nidiffer, in his second game as a ValleyCat, hits a two-run homer! He brings home fellow newbie Chris Wallace. 2-1 'Cats after two
ValleyCats Nidiffer does it again! Another homer to the same spot, his second of the night, brings home Wallace again. 7-1 'Cats, bottom 3rd.
New Orleans makes more sense, but I'd rather have it be in OKC, just because I'd like to catch them when I visit my mother in OKC.
I see some of the teams paying their picks by quadrupling MLB's recommended maximum. I wish the Astros had that same mindset with in comes to signing their picks.
