Completely in agreement. It hasn't been nearly as torturous watching the games, just because I concede some the mistakes I see to us being a young team. The Tampa Bay rays have had a lot of talent for a while, but it wasn't until 2 and 1/2 years ago that it all started to come together. I think we all understand that this is going to be a slow build, but when/if it does pay off and we reach the promise land, it'll taste all that much sweeter.

Dallas and Jordan should both be in the rotation in 2012 with Myers, Happ and Norris or Paulino...

@jimcallisBA: LHP w/o standout stuff but really pitches & competes. Bet he finds a niche in Houston. @cseehausen: Any thoughts on #Astros Dallas Keuchel?

I think he will sign. I'm not worried about him. Overall, I'm happy with the team's ability to sign their picks.

Great night for the Stros and pretty good night for some of our major prospects down on the farm. RR's lineup was horrible, prospect wise, with nothing to look forward to but AAAA players minus Jack Shuck and he is 0-5.

CC is still playing because they were delayed by rain. So far JD Martinez has come back with a vengeance after a hitless game yesterday, 3-5 double, homer and single with 4 rbis. JD is now closing in on 100 abs at CC and is hitting .330 with an OPS of .902 so a promotion may not be to far off or atleast RR to start next season. Cartwright is 2-5, Gaston is 2 for 3 with an rbi and Clemens is 1 for 3 with an rbi.

Lancaster has had a so-so evening so far, Villar with a hit and Lee Cruz has a homer. Kyle Greenwalt has thrown 5 innings of 1 run 3 hit ball which is a great sign after a shaky start to the season.

Lexington has a nice evening, Jimmy Paredes went 3 for 5 with an rbi and double. Mier had a hit, Jacob Goebbert had 2 hits, 2 rbis with a walk and the guy I am most excited about Ben Heath had 2 hits and rbi. I really hope Heath hits well and stays at Lexington through the season which gives him a shot at Lancaster to start next season. Zachary Grimmett continues a strong season with 7 innings of 4 hit 1 run ball with 7 SO, that lowers his ERA for the season to 3.59.

A couple of players to keep an eye out for at Greenville is 2nd rd pick this year Vincent Velasquez who has looked real good in 15.2 innings striking out 18 and has an ERA of 2.87, he starts tonight. Also Marcus Nidiffer, the guy hit another HR last night and now has 11 with an ops of over a thousand, the guy was an undrafted FAgent and, while older, is destroying the ball right now.

Of course the main attraction tonight is Jordan Lyles, he will make his AAA debut vs Sac-Town. I would be happy with a good 6 innings, anything more would be gravy.

Busy night for the farm teams tonight even with CC on a day off. The main event was RR where Jordan Lyles made his debut and showed well. He was rocked for 2 hrs including a 3 run shot but overall looked very good, 6 innings with 9 strikeouts and 4 ER with an impressive ball to strike ratio. BB had a nice night also going 1-2 with 2 walks but the story was Lyles.

Lexington had some interesting developments, Mier had another nice evening going 3 for 5 with a double, triple and 2 rbis. he has been hitting better over the last few days which is very good to see. I am personally excited about Ben Heath who had another good game since being called up going 3-5 with a triple and rbi. Jacob Goebbert continues to hit the baseball going 3-4 with an rbi and Tanner Bushue threw 6 innings of 1 run 6 hit ball.

Greenville didn't show much except Vincent Velasquez who threw 4.2 innings, 5 ks, 4 hits and 2 runs.

At Tri-City Daniel Adamson had 3 hits including a HR, he should be at Lexington maybe Lancaster by next season if not sooner. Another guy who should go to Lexington is Carlos Quevedo who threw 6 innings, 5 hit and 2 run ball lowering his ERA to 3.16.

Still going at Lancaster but so far David Flores has 2 hits and a RBI, Jose Altuve also has a hit likewise for Brandon Barnes.

I can't wait to get rid of all the dead weight at the AA and AAA levels with all the young talent at Lancaster and Lexington within the next 2 seasons.

Matt Nevarez and German Duran(I believe) are the guys we got for Pudge. Duran has split time at AAA and AA but is strictly defense thus nothing much of a prospect.

Nevarez seems to have nice stuff but at CC this year he has been all over the place with zero control. Guy has strikeout stuff but needs to find the strikezone before he can advance.

DeShields played his first game today for the Gulf Coast Astros in the GCL League. Tough first game. Went 0-5 with 2ks. He led off and played DH.

    Folty has thrown a 1-hitter through 5.

    Don't know his pitch count.

    5IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K

Edit: According to the box score, the game is delayed so that may end up being a final 4-0 win for Greeneville.

Edit: The game resumed and Folty got touched up. Flame away.

    Final line: 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

Not terrible, not great in the end. If the game truly was delayed, that may have had an impact.

I think the Astros got Duran off waivers. He wasn't part of the trade.

The other guy was Jose Vallejo. IIRC, he's the one that cut his hand with a knife while cutting a goat or something while in the Domincan. He's playing with CC now, but I'm not sure how he's doing.

Ah, thanks wasn't completely sure but either way the guy isn't doing much at all at CC.

Nothing much going around the minors minus what Brooks pointed out with Folty HOWEVER CC had some nice action tonight. JD Martinez continues to destroy AA pitching, 4-5 2 rbis, 2 runs scored and a double. The guy is just a machine, I think a little more of this and a September call up may not be out of the question. Clemens also continues to hit the ball well, 3-5 with 4 rbis, Albert Cartwright with 2 more hits and Gaston with a hit. Those 4 guys are the ones to watch on offense the rest of the way.

RR as usual nothing major tonight, BB and Shuck with hit a piece and walks. The story here is that RR is about to blow an 11 RUN lead!!!

JD Martinez so far at CC in 97 ABs is hitting .351 3 hrs 18 rbis .937 ops with an an obp of over .400...I really think he could get a taste of the big leagues by seasons end if he continues on this pace.

According to MiLB.com he didn't pitch past the 5th inning. The original line you posted was his final line.

    Wow, awesome.

They initially attributed all of Castillo's 6th inning to Folty on the online boxscore. It read exactly like I had it earlier with the 6 IP line. They must've fixed it later.

That makes a lot more sense given that the game seemed to be delayed for awhile. It didn't make sense that he came back out.

Great to see guys that are having success are moving through the system. I like the way Heck & crew are managing these young guys.

Yep, Nidiffer is an interesting story as he was un-drafted and was just tearing up Greenville. I hope he follows Ben Heath's footsteps and kills pitching so he can progress another level by the start of next season.
