The fact that we pay millions to guys that may be nothing is a big part of why the system is designed the way it is.

He has been at the majors for 2 months (77 AB's) and delivered a .169/.207/.325 with a .532 OPS slashline.
How many starts did he get? What was the longest consecutive start stretch? Not saying he's gonna blossom into an everyday player, but its hard to develop a rhythm when you have no clue about whether robot you will be playing any given day.
Sometimes, you have to put up the numbers when your situation is less than ideal. You have to make good on the opportunities that you have. Hoes, Barnes and Grossman were all out playing him. I agree that one plays better and has a better opportunity to make improvement when playing regularly. He lost that opportunity at this level. I think it better he play regularly at AAA than sit on the bench at the majors.
I'm saying he never had it. He was never brought up to be the starter. I don't think its fair to use his numbers in spot starts to indicate why he was sent down... its still a huge sampling error. Once they acquired Hoes, it made him expendable. Also, I doubt JD Martinez should get back into the lineup if Hoes continues his tear.

Our GM recently watched his AA team play...... and now Stassi is going to skip AAA. Don't like to read to much into things, but Stassi must have really impressed with his approach.
Cue the "He should go watch his AAA team play and see if there is any MLB-ready talent on there" comment in 3...2...1....
Yeah... after the call up of Cosart and Stassi, I am not really buying the whole "The Astros are trying to save Springer's arbitration clock" argument. I think that the Astros brass really worry that his two strike approach will result in larger issues at the big league level.
