Umm...could it be? Biggio made a play in outfield by snagging a homerun ball out of the stands and away from the fans. Nice.
UGH! Let's take the next two and come out of this weekend with a series win. Can't win em all. Even though today was not the fault of pitching as the hitting failed us, I am still calling for a 4-man rotation. We need to get Clemens and Oswalt extra starts if at all possible.
Biggio just gave back his great play last evening with a stinker play today. A ball he should have caught and he misjudged it. Edit: 3 run shot for Pittsburgh in the 1st. Looks like the Astros are back to being mediocre. Crap.
dude, you guys are such wagon jumpers, it's ridiculous. the teams wins like 19 out of 21...loses a couple...and everyone is ready to throw them back. some fans.
I'm simply pointing out the holes of this team...they may make the playoffs but they have holes and flaws. Sorry not all of us watch them through our (Ast)rose-colored glasses...
of course they have holes. who among those challenging for the wild card doesn't? it's not about looking through rose colored glasses...it's about not being so freaking pessimistic. it's about being able to enjoy the fact that this team is very much in the race for a playoff spot. we'd match up with either the dodgers or the braves in the first round..neither one of those scares me that much. fans don't abandon a team when they're within a game or so of a playoff spot. that's ridiculous.
The bottom line is the Stros can't afford to blow a series against the Pirates with so many games left against legitimate teams, and that's what they've done.
I liked this place better when they were winning, but still out of the race (basically, last week). Now, its reminding me of the GARM forum. Honestly, they probably should have won one of these last two games, but they didn't. There was no way they were going to win against Perez, and they luckily brought the bats against Fogg (who has been tough on them in the past, but not much this year). If they lose tommorow, then this series can be declared a disaster... till then, its just a dissapointment, and the team has to move on and play their best in St. Louis. A series win against the Cardinals will more then make up for a series loss to the Pirootes (who may, in fact, cause some damage to the Cubs in the WC chase).
Realistically, the Astros probably blew their chances this weekend. It's not over until it's over, obviously, but they just don't have much of a margin for error with the Cubs having such an easy schedule down the stretch. We have to take advantage against the bad teams. The fact that they have a good chance to win 90 games with Pettite, Miller and the bullpen in shambles for most of the year still makes it a pretty good year.
