Let's not get too cocky. The series vs. the Marlins in MMP will tell us alot.

I'll be worried if we lose all 4 of those games, or maybe 3 of 4.... but otherwise, it won't tell us much else especially since the Marlins have to play Atlanta, Philly, Washington, and NY a bunch of times and they've simply been an average team against all of them.

As long as we continue to take care of business against the Brewers, Pirates, and Cubs... we'll essentially back our way in... but I agree, we should definitely approach that series with the same intensity that we're approaching this one.

I know you just didn't attribute that quote to Yao Ming. My advice, go to google and research which Rocket said that well before Yao.

They need to approach every series with intensity from here on out. The Brewers and Pirates have been some of the Astros' toughest opponents. They need to bring it against these teams.

This is a season make or break game. I'm not a big fan of throwing Backe out there tonight, but His competitive spirit should pull through. It's such a big game to throw him into tho'.

We play cubbies 7 of 10 to end. That is tough if they don't rest their pitchers to close out the season. But at least we know we can pitch with them.

I agree . This series has been circled on my calendar for about two weeks now . I was thinking if we are still in it this series will tell a lot . After that the schedule gets a little easier . If we can atleast get a split , then the games against the easier teams might help us stay at the top of the WC Race .

So glad to have Backe back to do more than just Cheerleading!

Too bad this isn't a home game, Backe owns MMP.

How exactly is this a make or break game?

It might be for the Phillies, seeing how if they lose they'll then be three back in the loss column... but if the Astros lose, they're still guaranteed to be in the lead for the WC.

That being said, they still gotta give it all to try and win it... and I'd rather have Backe out there instead of the potential 5-6 "scary" innings of Astacio or Wandy, where you have no clue what's going to happen.

    Indeed.

He had threw only 18 balls through 7 innings and something like 11 balls through 6 innings IIRC. Even Dierker was raving about it (about the Phills knowing this but yet unable to hit hit well enough).

I agree. It can't be a make or break game for us when we'll still be in the WC lead regardless. I tell you one thing though. Every SERIES has make or break potential for us. We really need to try and split or win every series from here on out. We do that, I think we have the WC for sure, and with our relatively soft schedule it certainly can be done.

Backe is back tonight, and that's a + because he's better than Zeke and Wandy together. :D

He's also adds another bat to this lineup... and I'm really not joking.
