Now you know that Viz wouldn't have hit that double with Gipson still on base.

The baseball gods just wouldn't have it.

    WTG Lane & Bruntlett!

Hopefully Lidge will close this one out a little cleaner than last night.

The thing that really impressed me was Oswalt.

I didn't get to watch his game against the Reds, but from what I read, he had tweaked with his mechanics and ended up striking out 11 of them. I figured he had made some adjustments from his previous "un-Oswalt-like" 4 starts, but I also knew that Roy could probably shut down the Reds with one leg, one eye, and two fingers.

But tonight, you can really tell that the slightest tweak in how he shows the ball before he delivers it has made all the difference in the world. Even if he's preventing the batter from seeing the ball only .005 seconds less, that is enough to either cause poor contact, or a ton of K's.

A healthy and dominating Roy like this will be HUGE in September... this team is starting to win the games like they did in June and July... great pitching and timely hitting.

Will we play Atlanta again as wild card?

    Yes... we will.

And that's why the Cardinals are actually rooting for us to win this thing too.... they'd rather play a weak Padres team in the 1st round, than a potential winning wild card team like the Phillies, Marlins, or Nats (although I don't see the Cards really having a problem with any team out there).
