Could there have been a better example of the Astros needing a bat than right there? Bases loaded, 1 out, Lane and Burke up. These are the two prime guys that would be benched if we brought in a bat or two. What happens? A couple of weak ground outs. Sad and very frustrating.
Why not SUICIDE squeeze with Lane up there, or with Ensberg? This team is just slumping at the plate....one FRICKEN fly ball, that is all they need.........one fly ball... Poor Roger....he should talk to his teamates about their lack of hitting.....he has lost 4 games 1-0 this year....let's not make it 5. DD
Both of them hit it decently....if Willy would pay attention he could have easily scored on Berkman's hit. DD
Unfortunately, you need some luck in this game as well... and the Astros did not have it that inning. Biggio hits a solid shot that the 2nd baseman rises up and grabs. Berkman hits a solid single to right field that is hit too hard for them to take a chance on scoring Willy. Willy is called out at home on a questionable play where Olivo might have taken his foot off the plate early. Burke hits a solid shot up the middle that Peavy gets a piece of, and he's nipped at 1st by the SS's throw. In the end, we didn't get it done... but it sure as hell wasn't that far away from being something different.
Well, the inning did start on an error. A good throw would have gotten Taveras. Instead, he was on 2nd base with no outs.
Fine... so it evened out then. Still doesn't change the fact that Biggio's and Burke's balls were struck well enough to be hits and just didn't find the right spot. Its frustrating... that's baseball... freaking Brad Ausmus is getting doubles now.
Could Willy pull off the "2 out" suicide squeeze? He'd have to beat the throw... but he's done it before.
Why would you bench Lane? He's our 3rd best bat - maybe 2nd behind Ensberg. Since the ASB, he's batting .353 with an OPS over 1.000.
Giles homer. Game over..... No runs for Roger...AGAIN !! He should tell the team that if they want him back next year they better start scoring. UGH ! DD
Scientific amercian just published a report that there is a new integer they recently discovered. It's between 0 and 1. They graphed it out....here is the picture.
I also love it how you and all the other naysayers love to come on here only when the team gets shut out. Didn't see much whining last night... or the day before that... or on Friday... but oh wait, we scored 5, 8, and 6 runs those days. I'm frustrated with the offense as much as anybody... but your consistency to only post to complain about the offense is about as regular as the lack of Astros run support for Roger.
This is absolutely amazing to me. I jut sit here knowing in my head that we are going to get shutout for the 7th time this season when Roger pitches, but everytime, I think this is the night that we are going to actually come back. Oh well, Come on stros!
