Every single team loses 2/3 they shouldn't to someone during the season a number of times.

    yes I know

but those teams that are real *contenders* show up in the 2nd half of the season, not stumble, bumble, and fall into a divison championship..

Astros 2nd half examples of inepitude

Losing 2/3 at home to Cubs
Losing 2/3 at home to Mets
    Losing 3/4 at Cubs
    Losing 2/3 at Cinci
Losing 2/3 at home to Cinci
Losing 2/3 at home to SD

so dont talk down at me like Im talking crazy for being not convinced that the Astros *could* win the games they should and need to

    It's baseball.

Random chance plays more of a role in a baseball game than just about any other sport. However, the better team is also likely to win the division over the course of a season because of the sheer number of games.

Losing 2 (or even 3) games of a series too a bad team is not significantly worse than losing 2 of 3 to the Yankees.

It's all about the 162... otherwise, Cinci might have won the pennant.

ya do realize that the Astros would be like

13 games out in the East

11 games out in the West?

we're closer to SD in wins than we are to Atlanta

    I agree 100%

but to be different than the Cinci's of the MLB, we HAVE to beat the lesser teams

ya do realize that the Astros aren't in the East? or West?

We are closer to the Cards and Cubs than we are to San Diego.

Some people just love to dwell on the negative.

I bet you would be a lot of fun to be around if this team was in LAST PLACE.

WRONG. All we have to do to be different than the Cinci's of the MLB is win more games than they do (which I think we are doing)

What exactly are you trying to say with these ridiculous posts?

that the astros piss me off :)

    hey dont get me wrong

    i watch every game

i will root for em regardless

they just frustrate the hell outta me cuz to me, this team should of run away with this divison long ago and they could of if they didnt lose a whole lot of games they shouldnt of in the 2nd half..

The same could be said of the Cubs and the Cards. Fact is, all three contending teams in the division this year have had problems/holes. So instead of focusing on the negative, count your blessings and be happy the 'Stros are still in it and are still in first place.

7-1 Padres lead top of 7th. Stros only have 2 hits.

Cubs and Cards both won today.

Sorry, Im not going to just "be happy" with under achieving mediocrity (hasn't everyone had enough of that with the Astros over the past 10 years?)

    ______Actual__RS___RA__ExW-L___Difference
    Astros_75-67__696__594__82-60__-7
    Cubs__75-67__629__608__73-69__ +2
    Cards__75-69 _778__710__79-65__ -4

ExW-L and ExWP are derived from Bill James' Pythagorean theorem of baseball: Runs scored [squared] / (Runs scored [squared] + runs allowed [squared]). This formula was designed to relate a team's runs scored and runs allowed to its won-lost record.

No other team in the majors has under achieved based on RS and RA like the Astros this year, Not even the Tigers who are only 3 wins less than what one wonld expect based on RS/RA..

This is all my point that for some reason I got gang-raped for expressing... Just because I critize the Astros, doesn't mean I am not a fan or that I am only harping on the negatives.
