Sure glad we started Duckworth. Great move Jimy! That was definitely better than starting everyone else on the usual 4 days rest.

Would it have mattered if anybody else started? We still scored a big fat ZERO against a guy making his major league debut.

I guess there is something to say about a batter's confidence when a certain pitcher is pitching for them, but then again, the bats have had no problems in the other games Brandon has started (we were actually undefeated before last night in his starts).

If the game was 5-4, Brandon gets all the blame, but it was 5-0... hitters have to get some blame too.

when you give up 3 runs in a 1/3 of an inning its easy to blame Brandon...but yeah the offense has been crap for the last month or so

i agree a little with what you are saying...bottom line is that our lineup shoud have been able to put up a 5 spot against a 1st time starter without breaking a sweat.

    Its not very suprising anymore.

I don't care how good or bad the pitcher is, if its the first time our lineup has seen him, then we will almost always struggle to scratch out runs.

Duckworth sucks...I saw the first inning and he was just terrible...

We are in a world of hurt without our horses and with nobody hitting...

Clemens needs to fire up our batters... he's pitching his guts out so far.

He should take them by the ear and tell them to hit this daylights out of this pitcher who's 1-7 with a 5+ ERA.

We've haven't scored in 16 innings now. A married man scores more often than that.

Sometimes, baseball makes you reallly superstitious.

I don't believe in luck... but the Astros sure as hell are unlucky. Too many hard hit balls ending up in gloves :(.

Anybody else tired of our collective hitting approach? Besides Bagwell, get ahead in the count, and two strikes on ANYBODY on this team (including Berkman), and its an out... we'll swing at anything.

Roger is pitching is A$$ off... any other pitcher we have would have caved by now (maybe not Oswalt).

    Lets get some freakin RUNS!

Wow. I really need to see a W after that debacle in LA.

Clemens is making a hell of a bid for the all-star start.

Joel Pineiro has looked like the second coming of... Roger Clemens tonight.

Problem is, he shoudln't have been... look at his numbers.

Ugh... hopefully one freakin run is enough tonight, but it shouldn't have been this way.

Btw... aren't American League games great? A 1-0 pitchers duel, where each team has only 3 hits, has taken over 2 1/2 hours so far... and still there's two innings to be played.

Ugh... Biggio... that should be an error, but it won't be. Everything is turning bad tonight.

Biggio should carry Lidge's bags for the rest of the road-trip.

Now THAT is lights-out closer-stuff pitching.... I bet even Lidge would have fouled Shaq on that last play. That's how good he is.

Does anybody here actively watch AL baseball?

It really does seem like a different game... with no pitcher in the lineup, there's actually no "rhythym" to the game, as each batter is just up there trying to get a hit against good pitching. (I guess that's how it should be, but its boring... no strategy)

You have no clue when they're trying to pitch around somebody, pinch-hit for somebody, double-switch, sac bunt, etc.

And, the game takes too freakin long... I miss NL baseball.

BOOOM baby... best win of the year right there.

    Clemens, Lidge, Dotel... ZERO.

I don't care if a little league team could out-pitch these mariners... we needed this win BADLY.

Still glad I'm in Houston right now, and not in Detroit...

What a hell of a game, great plays on both sides. Dotel made my heart stop.
