Actually the Astros have acquired Jason Jennings from the Rockies for Willy Taveras, Jason Hirsh and Taylor Buchholz, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports.

    Too steep

    I hope its wrong

agreed. i can't say that jennings is better then garland and i definitely was against that potential garland deal.

can't believe timmy just traded two decent prospects and willy for this guy.
suppan or someone else better be in the works.

Yeah I read that we gave up Willy, Taylor, and Jason. That seems like an awful lot to give up to get Jennings. I DO NOT want to see Lane in center this season. Speed in CF is extremely important at MMP so I hope we have a good option to fill in here.

McLane going for a Baylor kid....

I'm very skeptical that we're getting much value in this trade. Hopefully he can be a good #2 guy but I'd be much more at ease if we had gotten Garland for that role.

Geez. It seems like we gave up an awful lot. I didn't like that package in return for Garland who actually had a contract beyond this year. Even if a guy like Buchholz isn't in the rotation, he's still a solid pen arm.

I suppose the club is serious about Lane in CF. It seems strange to have 2 plodders on the corners (Lee and Scott) and not have a true CF in there. I guess Burke now can get regular time in CF. On some levels, getting rid of Wily now if the club wants full time PT for Burke, and believe Hunter Pence's ETA (as a CF) is within the year.

It may be worth noting, Jennings is a very economical $5.5m this year. Given we offered 12m to Andy, theoretically, Drayton's willing to spend at least another 6.5m on starting pitching.

So, it's now Roy, Jennings, and Woody at the front of the rotation...which is fine. But who fills out 4/5? Haven't we seen enough of Wandy and Zeke? I suppose Albers and Sampson are the front runners? If we pick up Suppan too, that would help out a lot.

He had a 3.78 ERA in Colorado last year. That's pretty good.

Buchholtz is a trash prospect, and Willy is nothing special. Hirsh is the only key player in the deal, and we get a quality pitcher in return who hopefully can blossom outside of Colorado. Let's hope our scouts did a good job.

Yeah, surprising, huh? We should've traded them for Vince Young.

Jennings isn't bad, but he's not worth Willy and Hirsch.

If you were a Portland fan circa 1984, I think you'd be defending the sound reasoning for taking Sam Bowie to this very day. I'm confident of it! :)

There have been plenty of moves that Houston teams have made over the years where "this group" has been fully supportive. This strikes me as a lot for Jennings... but only time will tell (as has time with David Carr).
