This hasn't happened yet. The Giants did offer arbitration to Kent and players have until Thursday to decide whether or not to go through the arbitration process.

The Giants could dump J T Snow and then have Kent play 1st base. They could also have Alfonso play 3rd and Kent 2nd or vice versa.

The Giants are offering a one year deal to him. He is looking for a multi year deal. Sure, the Giants are on the map, but it looks to be very doubtful at this point.

The one year deal would be from arbitration. Players/teams that accept the arbitration process are free to continue to negotiate different deals. I suspect that if he accepts arbitration, they will work out a multi-year deal before the day of arbitration arrives.

It would surprise me to see Kent remain with the Giants, but until he signs with someone or Thursday comes around and he rejects the arbitration process, he and the Giants have not parted ways.

I think Kent would be a great addition to the team. I also see him fitting in very nicely with our clubhouse, as far as chemistry is concerned. All he has to do is take a bit of a pay cut, play third base and bring his bat.

I think not being able to acquire Stanton is a huge blow to what could've been a productive offseason. I think that deal is the powder keg that would set the Astros off to making changes, just my opinion.

I don't see Kent wearing the brick-colored star on his cap next year because he wants to get paid, and this team isn't looking to do that. Unless he decides that he will take less he won't be an Astro. The only thing that brings him here is that he and Hunsicker go back to the days when both were with the Mets.

Other than Oswalt, what have our "prospects" done for us. I think the concept is overrated, unless you're a Yankee.

Julio Lugo, Wade Miller, Lance Berkman and others were all Astros farmhands. I think they have collectively done quite a bit. Not to mention that a few of our prospects have done well on other teams...including those we traded to acquire Randy Johnson.

Why is everyone so high on Julio Lugo? This guy wouldn't be on a MLB team if he weren't on the Astros. The guy is way too inconsistent. He had one good month last season and people want to say it was a breakout season. Lugo is a journeyman in waiting, he'll be lucky to have the kind of career Bill Spiers had.

I'm not the world's biggest Lugo fan...but there are several teams that would utilize him...Milwaukee, Colorado, White Sox...etc etc etc...Lugo's stats are about middle of the pack amongst ML shortstops.
