Realmuto going to a non-contending NL team like the Padres or Reds would be a pretty good outcome for Houston.

In related news, I wonder if we could nab Wei-Yin Chen for Tucker + Alvarez + a flier or two. I'm guessing MIA says no

That’s the mlb.com #26, #49, and a high ceiling young OF who has put up 2.7 fWAR in 277 big league games. Astros rough equivalent would be Tucker or Alvarez, James, and Stassi. No thanks.

If Miami lands anything like that, I will give Jeter a lot of credit and will be glad we didn’t pay that price

Is this the same Mejia from Cleveland who cannot actually play catcher?

Yes, he headlined the Brad Hand trade.

Not sure if serious. In case you are, you'd give up 2 of our top prospects for a guy who had a nearly 10 ERA on the road last season?

Yeah and he isn’t as well thought of as a lot of trade publications/rankings have him.

That Bowden tweet is nonsense. Any team that has been in on Realmuto to this point has to have a very clear idea of the asking price; gamesmanship time passed 6 weeks ago. Now it's just a matter of who has the best and final offer by the time ST starts.

I might actually watch some Reds games this year, regardless of what happens with this.

Is the NL Central now the best top-to-bottom division in baseball?

He said top to bottom. AL East has the Orioles. So no. Even the Pirates in the NL Central could surprise.

This was my point. AL East has 2 total dogsh!t teams, 1 pretty damn good team, and 2 monster teams.

NL Central has zero dogsh!t teams, the Brewers, Cubs and Co-ards, and now the Reds seem to be going for something while the Pirates are in ~.500 territory.

also, different question about the Stros, eta: would you rather have 40% of your division games against the Jays and O's or the Rangers and Mariners? I'm just thinking about this whole "tanking" thing that's getting talked about now.

Rays may be better than all the NLC teams. Blue Jays likely win 70+ games...not great, but not dogshit. I'd rather play NLC as Orioles don't cancel out the top 3 ALE teams.

Agree and that was my point

There are three teams in the ALE that would all be the favorite in the NLC, and the Blue Jays as currently configured are as good as Pittsburgh. Yes the orioles are crap.

If you told me I had to play a large number of games against one division or the other, I would definitely choose to play the NLC

Interesting question, Jays are likely the best of those 4 and Baltimore obviously the worst. I would probably rather play Jays and Os cause those games against Baltimore

I think we have a big advantage schedule wise playing Oakland and LAA vs playing TB and NYY (if comparing our schedule to Boston. Oakland smells of a team that just had that big year and could win 80 games this year. LAA, unless they sign Keuchel, will also struggle to get to .500. Our division is bad right now
