No kidding. What a BS stupid freaking take that was. There are almost *no* similarities between their careers, and they did *not* "start getting big" at the same time.
i was listening to the show and they made NO mention of the Astros attempting to get him, more like "what if" and Dealte beated JLo that there are a 50% of Astros fans would want him. They were just making talk, I can't believe that people actually thought that we would get him. I was listening to it from like 1230pm till like 2pm and thats all it was, just talk. Even when they had the drive time players came on 610, Rich flat out said "we are NOT going to talk about that garbage to be on this team". word....
i think he would fit in great here what do clemons, pettite, bonds, biggio, have in common? clemons on phone with drayton: im retiring, im tired drayton : what if i add soriano and lee? clemons: ahh, still, im tired cant come back drayton : okay, how bout bonds also? clemons : hold on I got another call pettite : hey roge whats up? wanna goto HEB and pick up sum barbeque? clemons: hey, draytons on the other line, says hes going after bonds pettite : hey, maybe we wont be tired anymore if we get sum "clear" clemons: yeah, and i want to get 350 wins also....hold on clemons : drayton, hey ill come back if you get bonds drayton : yeah!!!! world series we coming back baby !!!
I thought that was ok. Get over yourselves...geez. So you did not crack a rib laughing...so what, stfu.
I would sign Bonds in a heartbeat, it's a one year deal unlike the longterm mistake we are about to make with Lee. This would give us a chance to do two things, one see how young outfielder Hunter Pence looks without handing over a starting job (Barry would sit many games) The other would be that we can focus on our starting pitching, catcher and the left side of the infield since long term money would not be tied up in Carlos Lee. Oh by the way we will never sign Bonds.
Are you kidding? Everett was not a cancer before he joined the Astros. In fact, he barely even played. He really didn't become the freak he became until he became a Red Sox.
