It's funny how we can interrupt our normal lives because of the names of two guys who won't even be in the majors until 2-3 years from now.

This Singleton kid sounds like a gem. I like me some young power hitters. I say if Drayton is paying so much of Roy's salary then we have to get this kid.

Probably because I need an interruption from my normal life...and it being something potentially positive for the Astros makes it that much better.

According to my source in Philly, the Astros are paying 1/3 of whatever money remains including the option if it is picked up. Also, Jeff Keppinger might be moved in the deal. Phillies are desperate for an infielder. It's not the worst deal in the world, but you won't know if it was worth it for 3 years at least. My friend saw Worley make his debut over the weekend and was impressed. At the very least you have a ton of arms to compete for jobs next year among Happ, Worley, Paulino, Norris, and hopefully Lyles.

if they're picking up $12 of the $16 million....any chance we're talking Dominic???

they're getting Roy for a song, financially.

Not that this is shocking, but Roy and Brad have always been close... they're definitely good friends and on very good terms. So that should work to our benefit. That's one reason why I never bought the reports that Roy wouldn't go to Philly. (There's also the fact that if you demand a trade because you supposedly want to win, and then turn down the most successful MLB franchise over the past two years, you look kind of silly. :p )

I can see it now... final game of the season, Phi @ Atl.

If the Phillies win, they steal the division from the Braves. If they lose, no playoffs.

Oswalt pitches a gem through 8 innings. Phils up 2-0. In comes Lidge...

He walks the first batter, gives up a single to the next guy... Heyward then hits a 3-run jack.

Camera pans to Oswalt in the dugout. The normally stoic Oswalt clearly utters the words "F*** My Life."

    Matt,

What are you hearing about Singleton being included given the finances of the deal?

Brown was just called up with Victorino out. He's the #1 prospect in all of baseball...so the answer is likely "no way in hell."

So much for all those reports about us not willing to give significant cash in any deal. Just shows that all this reporting is pure speculation, especially with the numerous conflicting reports.

If he does pitch in that series, I'm going.

I was thinking Dominic Brown was called up for a quick audition before being sent to 'Stros in a deal, but some say there's no chance of that? Is he really the number one prospect in all baseball? Seems he has a chance to develop into a very good player. Would be a very nice trade. Oswalt for Brown and a low-level player. No?

WOW, this is getting SCREWY!!! Rosenthal has been wrong this whole process, Zolecki has been spot on most of the way. Hoping it stays that way!

Not a chance, Brown is Werth's replacement next year.

You guys have been great covering this story, I've read every post. I will be hella disappointed if the Stros are paying between 10 and 12 mill and not getting Singleton in the deal.

Funny how the prospects were already agreed upon, just awaiting Roy. Then conflicting reports on who's coming back. SMH :p
