I like what I'm reading about Wallace. I just hope there aren't any hidden "issues" that caused him to be traded 3 times.
Brett Wallace better get his ass in shape, he was traded for Holliday and swapped for Halladay....he didn't get traded for a bag of chips, am dissapointed with Wade but seeing Wallace against the Cardinals will be funny
So if this is finalized, I am content....... A quality SP, a good hitting 1B, and a young SS for Roy O..........good job, Ed!
Wallace, Happ, and that other guy who's too young to project (Villar) for Oswalt? I'll take it. Wallace will be GREAT.
Well, I am happier with this deal (if we weren't getting Singleton). Just gotta keep Wallace away from chicken-fried steaks...
if Wallace is the #16 overall prospect in baseball, he's better than the 18 year old kid you're lamenting we passed over. singleton hopes his AA and AAA numbers are as good as wallace's.
I'll take it but I would REALLY like to see them move on Wandy, Puma and Pence now. If they can move 2 of those 3 then it will be an excellent trade deadline.
In trades, that seems to make sense as you hope that the other teams are not seeing what they actually have. One of the few ways to try to get some MLB potential into a farm system in trades or low picks. Risky, and you have do your homework scouting, but you have to take that chance with our cupboard. He is also a left-handed bat, which is nice. Someone said Berkman is on his way out, which is probably true. Why wait til next year to give this kid a chance? Just do it now. It not like the team (or Berkman for that matter) is doing anything right now. Also, since we face mediocre to bad teams most of the rest of the year, it would not be a huge step up for him. We would probably have to wait til Sept 1, for that though.
I feel a little better because we got Wallace. However, the individual deal with Philly is still a s***ty deal. Maybe Wade had the deal with Toronto ready to go. But what if Toronto says "nevermind" and we're stuck with Gose? The Astros gave up one of the best pitchers in the last decade & $11 million for a middle-of-the-rotation type, a low-A ball SS (when we drafted one in the 1st round just last year), and a no-bat speedster OF'er (already have a couple of those). I'm trying to think of it as a 3-team deal, but I can't. I see one bad deal and one lucky one.
