From what I've read he has the chance to bring a little pop for his position if he can stick at 2B. He won't be Chase Utley but probably has a chance to be slightly above average. Lots of doubles and maybe 15 HR power.
explain why you'd have no leverage? you just mean because if that player doesn't sign, you then lose the pick?
This is the way I look at it. If Jonathan Singleton is in the trade for the Astros, it's a very good trade. If he isn't, it's a very bad trade. I would say Haren and Oswalt are pretty comparable and the D-Backs didn't offer any salary help to the Angles and still got 4 prospects back.
Just saw this post on TCB: "happ worley and gose is offical from philly radio who had jim salisbury on….this is a steal for the phils" Not saying it's valid.
Sharpening my pitchfork as we speak. Don't let me down, Astros. BTW, do they sell Ed Wade jerseys? I'm thinking of putting a burning Astros jersey on my pitchfork as stark imagery to really sell the disappointment. Oh, right, potential disappointment.
Then just saw this: ed_price Now have 2 people, not involved in trade, saying Phillies trading Jonathan Singleton in Oswalt deal. If so, that’s a good get for Astros.
I think Wade has done a good job since taking over. My opinion him will change immediately if we didn't get Singleton out of this deal.
The argument was that we needed POWER PROSPECTS........15 hr/yr does not fit that description (albeit not too shabby for a 2nd baseman.)
Nah go ahead and say whatever you think. If reports are correct we traded a top tier pitcher, an above average utility player, and ELEVEN MILLION dollars for 3 prospects without any superstar potential. So go ahead, flame on.
