If we make the playoffs, Bagwell's foul ball will forever live in infamy. :D

If only we were able to get to their starters earlier in this series... we might have seen a different result.

This Giants bullpen is clearly the most mediocre bunch of the contending teams... and its for that reason that they probably wouldn't do much in the playoffs if they got in.

But, San Fran did get awesome starting pitching the last couple of nights (especially Lowry)... ironically, it was Schmidt that the Astros actually hung in there the best with (or, the bullpen made it close enough so that Schmidt just couldn't cruise like Tomko and Lowry did).

With Beltran on 1st, Bagwell hits a little roler up the 3rd base line that looked like it was rolling foul... then rolled back fair... then looked like it was rolling foul again... but before the catcher could touch it (to make it a dead ball), it rolled back fair again and died right there.

you've got to be kidding me that we actually came back in this game. i had given us up for dead until reading the posts about bagwell's roller and go and see we're up 6-3 (now 7-3 with the squeeze). unbelievable.

There's nothing that we saw to say that he could be seriously injured... but, I would imagine it would have to be something to manage to keep him out of this final important inning.

I saw him talking to Phil in the dugout after Lance's homer... it looked as if he was explaining something to him... maybe he tweaked something in all his running around the basepaths tonight.

gameday said that he was replaced by lane because of an injured groin. thats why i asked.

    "Bottom 9th B:0 S:0 O:0
Houston Astros center fielder Carlos Beltran left the game due to an injured groin. "

I guess that's it then... he probably didn't want to risk hurting it more (and hurting the ballclub) chasing balls down in that death valley of a RCF.

    Lance is great...

9 games left, and 3 behind in the loss column...a monumental task.

If we go 9-0, the Cubs would have to go 6-3 for us to catch up.

The numbers do not look good for us.

I'm afraid that I have to agree. This will go down as yet another Astros season that ends with a familiar lament: Too Little, Too Late...
