It almost feels like Click caught the rest of the league sniffing around on Kimbrel and struck on Graveman while the iron was hot.

All the while… still having his “key assets” at his disposal. All of a sudden, the Astros don’t seem as desperate to add a bullpen arm, which certainly gives Click more leverage in the next couple days.

Seems like a good deal for Seattle. They get to see if Toro is a legit player. Astros get bullpen help and shed their 2nd worst contract. I think Seattle will get the most overall value in the deal, but the Astros got value exactly where and when they wanted it without giving up someone that had a path to playing time.

While I think Graveman is an upgrade, I'm not expecting him to continue with a sub 1 ERA.

But Seattle has Seager. They wouldn't trade Seager, would they?

You're aren't, they are betting on Toro long term

Graveman was the guy I wanted most out of all of the Kimbrel/Kennedy etc... relievers available. He will be a FA next yr but this is a small price to pay for the best reliever on the market.

    Great job Click.

Getting a reliever with an .083 ERA and shedding salary to be able to make another trade is atleast a B+ trade IMHO.

No brainer trade. We already have a Bregman and needed another bullpen arm.

This is the bottom line and Graveman helps improve the chances of another title.

First glance at Graveman's stats and I wasn't impressed with his lifetime 4.20 ERA and low strikeout rate, but after seeing he had Tommy John surgery in 2018 and came back as a reliever with great numbers, I'm liking this deal.

As another poster mentioned, Toro has T.Hernandez type ability written all over him. Good numbers he may have in the future but I don't see a superstar by any means. Great trade and I hope the Astros aren't finished.

Best I can tell, the difference in salary between who we gave up and who we acquired is the prorated amount for the rest of the season of $871,107, approx 330K. Every bit helps, but it's not some major windfall.

It's not very much and it depends on what incentives Graveman reaches. Since Pressly will remain the closer that will limit the incentives for Graveman and we might come out ahead 500k

Let's hope they don't accelerate the process by moving Toro to first base and the Astros fare better than the Red Sox did with Larry Anderson
