Funniest (or stupidest depending on your POV) lines in today's Chronicle: The Astros, who fell four games under .500 (56-60) for the first time this season, are slipping off the radar in the hunt for the National League wild card. Losers of six of their last seven and eight of 10, the Astros are seven games behind the Chicago Cubs and 1 1/2 games out of last in the NL Central. I mean, who the F are they trying to kid here? There are at least 3 teams ahead of them in the wild card race and posting a sub-500 record while drifting toward last place does not equate to being "in the hunt" as I see it. This is an absolute disgrace and there should be plenty of heads rolling at the end of the season.
Thank God football season is here. Last night i flipped on the game and saw Bagwell rip a 2 run homer giving us the lead. The next time i flip it on we are down 8-3. This season just needs to end.
RBI single by Lane. Runner on 3rd (and 1st), one out, down by a run. Viz absolutely must get this runner home.
Wow. We got the lead with Lidge still available. Props to Palmeiro with the 2 out pinch single. Now it's time for our only reliable reliever to be reliable.
It's so sad to think about what could've been ... We've played sooo terrible against the Expos, the Mets, and other subpar teams the past few weeks. Somehow we are still only 6 games out of the WC ... Man 4 losses to the Expos over the past 2 weeks really hurts
