Who cares? Just pitch Weathers a couple of innings. Who cares about his arm... his career is over anyways.
Boy, who could have predicted that trading away your two best relievers might be a bad idea? I mean, I'm no Hunsicker-like genius, but I might have paused to ponder it a bit an so on. Also, how could anyone possibly know that making up a third of your everyday lineup with old players on the downside of their careers, two of whom have significant injuries and all of whom are defensive liabilities - who could know that that might be a problem?
Pathetic. I think....I might have to....for the first time ever. Lose my faith in this team. Ugh. After so much promise, this season really really hurts. Bring on the Texans! First Preseason game tomorow on ABC 13! Kill em Cow Girls!
"The Astros, 0-50 when trailing after eight, tied it in the ninth on homers by Carlos Beltran and Jeff Kent off closer Chad Cordero." Gutless.
bigboy, yea I'm serious about Weathers. I believe he was demoted after blowing the lead against the Expos at home. Although it could have been the Braves series.
according to the chron, he was given permission to attend a funeral during this series. I doubt he has any options left to just send him to the minors... On a brighter note, Carlos Hernandez gets to go tonight. Hopefully, he can come through as it will help us out for next year in a BIG way.
Wow... can anything else go wrong with this season? Carlos' first batter hits a ball that hits off the top of the wall, and bounces back... yet the umps rule it a HR. The ball somehow hit RIGHT on the top of the wall... probably a width of 2-4 inches... and the umps rule it a HR anyway. Its almost like fate threw the astros some help, by having it not go out of the ballpark... but the umps took it right away by mistakengly ruling it a HR. Here's to the first-inning jitters by Carlos, who after he got warmed up got his fastball consistently around 90 mph, topping out at 91... and he struck out 2 batters on the fastball.
Well, 'Los kinda got roughed up a bit in that 6th inning... but he still gets a quality start, and 6K's in his first outing back. That's something he can build on. Additionally, if he is indeed still building arm strength, this is a good sign... because his fastball had enough zip on it at 89-91 mph to be effective. If he can throw 90-93 mph consistently, and not have the FB straighten out too much, he can become SCARY good.
Hey, why did the Expos take Armas out of the game? He hadn't given up a hit through five. Was he hurt? Thanks.
Wow, all I can say is thank god the Texans have started to play football games. Because damn! This team really really really SUCKS! Go Texans! 18-0 BABY! I am sick and tired of the underachieving Astros! Go Texans!
