the newphew of current Phillies's GM called into 610 earlier and said ED WADE's nickname was ZIPPY THE CHIMP !!! haha
It wouldn't be the first or last time, a boss got written up for unprofessional conduct. Neither Wade or Chacon did the right thing here,
The team requested waivers on Chacon on Thursday for the purpose of giving him his unconditional release. If he isn't claimed by another major league team by Monday, waivers will expire and his contract will be terminated without pay.
Let us see which dumbass team has the gonads to pick this guy up. You better be prepared to start him...OR ELSE!!!!
So was Chacon as polite (before getting physical) as he said he was? http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/...t_id=3009145&vkey=news_hou&fext=.jsp&c_id=hou During Wednesday's discussion with Chacon, Wade said, "I told him that he needed to look at himself in the bleeping mirror." The GM said that he never initiated any physical contact or shouted at Chacon. "Chacon responded with profane and threatening remarks," Wade said. "He moved toward me, face to face, and shoved me to the ground. I started to get up and he shoved me again." And couldn't the team have held onto Chacon till the trade deadline...you never know, some team in contention could be desperate for starting pitching. There doing him a favor placing him on waivers...let him stew about his decision while he's sitting under control for awhile; and see if you can get anything for him.
I still don't understand how the league has nothing to say on this issue. They are basically saying it's okay for players to attack those they work for and essentially be let off the hook for it? Releasing a player to sign with someone else isn't any kind of punishment. I mean...what would have happened if this same incident happened in the NFL? Are you telling me the NFL wouldn't have suspended that player outside of any team discipline?
Simple...cause the Astros, Chacon, Cooper, and Wade all have one thing in common...they suck so nobody cares (unless your a stupid Phillies fan who has to get his two cents in over it).
I'm still very curious how the fact that the Astros are a sub .500 team -- predicted by every analyst on the planet before the season who knew the overall talent level of the team -- proves that Cooper and Wade suck, particularly Wade. Guys, it's not about the chemistry. It's not about Cooper not pushing the right buttons. It's a very simple concept -- the overall talent level just isn't that good. No manager or GM in the world could mask that fact. Likewise, no GM in the world would've been allowed anywhere near the Astros had they tried to take a different approach and rebuild the team. Wade's doing the best he can within the limitations given to him.
From the same article: What an assclown. To quote someone earlier, do let the door hitya where the good lord splitya.
Fair question--but who assembled this team? Did he make any attempt at all at guys like Lohse before gambling on Chacon? (In all fairness, it's not like he had many options.) Oh, I don't expect Coop to make the hits suddenly fall in the outfield and the pitchers suddenly become Oswalt, Pettitte, and Clemens. But I do expect some semblance of composure from the guy. And I am concerned about the litany (sp?) of boneheaded baserunning moves and defensive gaffes out there, which often *do* point to coaching. I'm not saying it's my opinion that Coop sucks; I'm saying I'm concerned.
Thats all Wade said: "look in the ****ing mirror"? lol Every boss on the planet has said worse things than that. Shawn needs thicker skin.
