Chacon's an idiot. The end. He's damaged his career over and over and over and over again because he can't control himself. He was held down in the minors at least a year longer than he would have been otherwise while with the Rockies for this same kind of crap. Ultimately, it's time to grow up. Time to act like an adult.

because she does it's not the same...room
the one she wanted to be in
    she says
everywhere i go, "damn there i am!!!"

For all those piling on Wade - he had every right to dress down Chacon. It's not like he set out to do so - Chacon decided to show up his manager and GM in front of everyone with his "I don't wanna" act when they came to pull him aside. If he went into the office, I doubt they'd be anything but cool with him.

Instead, he decides to show them up like a punk little snot in a high school class. You can't let that slide. Especially with a bum pitcher that demands a trade because he feels he should be demotion-proof despite crap outings.

If I drop the ball repeatedly at work, display a poor attitude to boot, and then get smart in front of my colleagues when my boss asks to speak with me privately....what do you think happens?

Regardless, if Chacon thinks this is Wade's fault because he "just wanted to be left alone", he's got the maturity of a elementary school kid that can't handle himself.

Please do let the door hit you hard on the way out.

Then he would get what he wants. You can't reward behavior like that. Wade needs to be pressin charges.

There is only so much s**t you can dump on any person before they go ape*****. If you keep pushing, everybody has a breaking point. The threshold gets lower if that person is embarrassed already, feels powerless or is in pain.
His view of the consequences gets very short sighted.

    Or so I heard.

    LOL

I'd have a lot more sympathy if this were a one-time slip. Chacon's reputation follows him everywhere he goes. Get up like a man and go talk to the guys responsible for bringing you in and your fat ass paycheck. Sit down and talk like a man instead of lashing out like my 3 year old.

apparently nothing since he almost got his ass kicked
they're both in the wrong... Chacon for being a lil b**** and wanting to get traded because he got sent to the bullpen... Wade for losing his cool and yelling/cussing when Chacon didn't want to meet with him and Coop...
I wonder how Morey would have handled this? I can't see Morey getting choked-slammed.

it is ridiculous to compare these situations to our everyday lives. totally ridiculous. no boss would be in your face cursing in the first place. if you repeatedly acted like a fool in an office setting security would probably be called and you would be walked out and probably never work in that industry again.

No one is saying Chacon was right, no one.....but Ed Wade did a piss poor job managing the situation.

If they promised Chacon he would be a starter all year and that is why he signed, of course he would be pissed.

Use some common sense in dealing with the guy, someone has to be the bigger man....and since Wade is in charge he should know how to act.

I think that both Wade and Chacon acted like a 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum....

    Fire them both.

With Chacon's actions prior to Wade dressing him down I'm sure he was already going to be suspended if not cut. The team is on the edge as is, the last thing they need around is a disgruntled below par relief pitcher.

All his actions guarenteed is that he won't be picked up by anyone else. Bad decision by Shawn. Wade "took one for the team" there, somebody has to stand up for the manager and other team officials if he's going to blatantly disrespect them as he did Cooper and eventually Wade.

If somebody is paying you 2 million dollars for a year of work when nobody else wanted nothing to do with you...probably would be a good idea to follow small requests they make of you. Shawn's immaturity shine's thru with the whole "I wish he would've just left me alone" line, how about "I wish I would've just went in the office with Coop originally" I doubt there would've been any cussing/yelling/screaming if he had simply given them the respect of coming into the office as they requested.

Bottom line is these are grown men, if you're going to openly disrespect two people in a position of power above you in front of everyone else you deserve any and everything thrown your way from there out.

Who promised him he would start "all year"?

Didn't Chacon himself say something like, "anything you want to say to me, you can say out here"?

So, we're believing the guy that choked the other guy, threw him on the floor, and jumped on him to beat his (butt)?

Ed Wade is a family friend, and I cannot picture this. I understand how a locker room/team dining hall is. People cuss, get on each others nerves, and are probably not the most civilized. I'm sure stuff gets said every day. If Ed was going to get up in someone's face, there is going to be a reason.

I think believing everything that Chacon said is moronic. You noticed how Wade didn't comment? Because he did not have to. I wish I could count the amount of times in High School my coach or AD cussed at me and told me to do something I didn't want to. I didn't go postal on them.

I'm not aware of Wade having a history with stuff like this.

This is the story of Chacon's career. It's why he's been a journeyman, largely.

Incidentally, here is a direct quote from Chacon after he signed with the Astros:

"I think there's been one season I've come in and had a guaranteed spot and that was a long time ago," Chacon said. "I'm excited about the competition. I don't want anything handed to me. My main thing was wanting to start and I'm getting that opportunity here."

    http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp...d=2381118&vkey=spt2008news&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb

Here is a quote from Wade in the same article:

"...We'll put him into the competition for a spot in the rotation and let him battle it out...."

Doesn't sound like he was "promised" anything other than a chance to compete for a starting role.

yeah, and that chewing out got wade thrown to the ground, and now what was once a decent part of our rotation is now suspended indefinitely with pay.... seems like that "good chewing out" hurt the team.

at the end of the day chacon is clearly at fault and clearly has some problems, but Wade didn't help the situation by being so confrontational about it.
