No offense to our new great player Beltran, but how was he the player of the game?! It so should have been Biggio. Biggio had 2 HR's today.
No, I was at work. I just assumed we had a better chance with Clemens. Maybe I was wrong. I can't believe we won. I just got home and saw that Beltran hit a homer in the 9th. Finally, something goes right for the Astros. At least I can have a calm evening now without smoke coming out of ass.
If I was watching, then I would be a r****d on your ignore list then? LOL. St. Louis lost as well and were swept by the Pirates. It's turning out to be a great day! Woo! And, remember, when I'm griping and moaning about our team...it's only because I know they play better after I b**** about them for a bit.
Good Lord, nail bitter. We need a couple blowout wins and get some steam heading into the allstar break. And also a bank to rob so we can sign Beltran. Dude is GAMER!
Congratulations! I've been here 6 years, and in that time I only have one person on my ignore list. Now I have two.
Brandon Backe has been having a pretty good strink at NO... maybe its time to get him up here, and send Bullinger back down. Or, give Harville some of these 7th or 8th inning opportunities... Miceli and Lidge are still good, but their arms might start falling off if we can't get more bullpen help.
I agree. I'm guessing it's because he got a clutch hit/homer and that's something that it seems nobody else on our team has gotten recently. Is it just me or has Beltan exposed the poor mentality of this team? Compared to him the rest of the team just looks so freakin' lethargic and out of it. Bagwell is pressing too hard and there's no way he's going to start playing well until he relaxes some. Everybody else looks like they couldn't care less if they were playing or not. There's no enthusiasm at all. Some guy called in to 610 and mentioned how the Astros showed almost no emotion today when Beltran hit the game winner. I think that they the 'Stros are just way out of this mentally and it doesn't matter who's on the team, if they don't fix their mindset soon, they're done.
I didn't realize how bad we were until Beltran got here. It's pretty obvious to me now. He's keeping us afloat singlehandedly.
Beltran. Wow. Best player most MLB fans have never seen. He plays defense, he hits, he runs, he scores, he hits game winning homeruns with 2 outs in the 9th against a division rival. I'm hoping Redding will boost the pen- he probably has to have another couple days coming off his start before he's able to be used again. We'll also get to see what this Griffiths kid has got- hopefully he'll show what got some player in return for Hidalgo, because Weathers sure isn't showing much stuff.
Im may go ahead and say this every day for the rest of the season...WE NEED TO RESIGN BELTRAN. I dont care what it takes. Dont resign anyone...send it all Carlos's way.
As long as Biggio and Bagwell set the tone in the clubhouse they will continue to be a stoic team. When they are winning people will say they are business-like or "professional" but when they are losing it will be seen a lack of passion. Let's get Jose Lima back here...
I haven't been following Backe's progress, but I'd like to see a little more of Bullinger before sending him out of the pen. Even though he gave up that homerun, I thought his stuff looked pretty good. Personally, I thought that homerun pitch was a really good pitch, I have no idea how Ramirez managed to put that one in the stands. With his funky delivery I think he might be good to throw in there for a few batters to give them a new look.
To quote Tom Selek in Mr. Baseball: "Baseball's a game. And games are supposed to be fun." They just don't look like they're having any fun out there.
Redding might be a big help in the pen for the rest of the year. It will allow him to throw his fastball harder and he will only need to concentrate on his best 2 pitches, instead of mixing in 3-4 different ones and getting hammered by mistakes.
This is exactly right. Enthusiasm aside, both Biggio and Bags are notorious for folding under the pressure. And neither can hit a right hander's slider, as well, which typically has them working from the passive/defensive side of the AB's. It is common knowledge amongst major league pitchers to throw these guys outside breakers because they can't hit them and can't lay off of them; and especially in Biggio's case he is so far off from hitting these pitches he often times looks foolish. Biggio and Bagwell are stricken with clubanoma; the clubhouse cancer.
