Yeah,...I gotta agree with the sentiment. I got a "bad feeling" about this game thus far...but who knows? Perhaps we can strike back and send that one fan with the Astros retro jersey home happy... (p.s. please excuse me for the very, very weak retro-astros jersey/Star Wars tie in...I'm just trying to throw some old skool majic at the T.V.)
Kent just made a hell of a diving play to catch an errant flip throw from Everett while still keeping contact with second base for a force out and out number 3 to prevent some runs from scoring. Sweet play!
Win or lose, that was one HELL of a play by Kent. I will always admire the fact that this team plays hard every game no matter what.
If the astros would just lay off the high fastballs, then they would have won this game on walks alone. But, for some reason, they feel they must swing at the high fastballs. Their either being fooled or they just cannot lay off of it.
This goes back to a long-time debate... The Cubs probably would benefit by playing most of their home games at NIGHT, like most major league teams do. A lot of their inconsistencies at home this year, and thru all these years, could be explained by that greatly. Plus, the wind definitly plays more of a factor, more often, in these night games then it does in the day... hell, with their pitching, and Chicago's summer climate (hot in the day, cooler at night), I would be planning to have mostly night games if I was the Tribune company. But, of course nothing will change... and we all know that infamous quote for people who goto Cubs day games: "85% of the country goes to work during the day... the other 15% go to Wrigley to watch those bunch of losers."
Damn. Shutout. Oh well. Can't win them all. I am still sticking to my predictions. WLWW (as seen in first post of this thread)
we lost today but we shall win tomorrow with robertson on the mound hopefully he can pitch a good game GO ASTROS!!
The recap of the last night's game said that Zambrano is 3-0 against us this year with an 0.85 ERA. I knew going in that last night would be the toughest game in the series for us to win. Redding was shaky to the first two batters, but pitched pretty well the rest of the way. And for the second night in a row, Jimy let a starter pitched through a jam in the sixth inning. Is he starting to change his strategy there a bit?
I don't like Zambrano...that is all. Well, I wish someone would have went back through the box and nailed his overly intense dick-headed azz. Geez, I really hate that guy....that is all.
Loved the Kent play. Did not like the game result, but Z pitched a heck of a game. Is there a way to hear today's game on the internet? Most games are brodacast on 1190 here in Dallas, but they do not broadcast day games.
3-2 bad guys; top of the 5th, no out, Biggio (BB) on 1st. [edit] Estes proceeded to walk Ensberg, Kent & Hidalgo to force in a run. Bases juiced, lefty Guthrie in to face Berkman, still 1 out. 3-3 game. [edit#2] Sac fly berkman...4-3 stros.
Man, all Robertson had to do was make it out of the fifth with the lead. After that, Jimmy could have sent out a relief pitcher for the sixth, and then Lidge, Dotel, and Wagner. Freaking Alou is still a stud. Glad we were treated to one year of D-Ward since we decided Alou wasn't worth resigning I know we still have at least 4 at bats left, but if the score stands up, this is two games he's won for the Cubs against us.
