Every year we put some of the best hitters on the field. Every year they disappoint us with their lack of clutch hitting. Are we cursed?
Bagwell has been so close to HRs tonight. How come we dont use Hidalgo as a PH?! ***EDIT: Doggy is batting...
If it the first of second strike, it is considered a swing and a miss unless the ball goes above the catchers head.
WHOOOOHOOOOOO 2 run shot by Gonzalez!!!! Time to change the channel. Will be back later for more complaining....
Hehe...but they might be looking for some payback. Maybe we'll let 'em score 2 runs this time and they'll try to keep us under 10.
Quote from ESPN recap: "The Astros managed just eight runs in the four games as some of their top hitters, especially Biggio and Lance Berkman (1-for-15 in the series with four strikeouts Thursday), struggled." Ouch, Biggio was 1-for-16. I got so frustrated watching them swing at pitches that started at their shoe strings and were breaking down. I had mentioned trading for Lofton a while back and then thought better of it. Maybe we should have done, just so he could not play against us. Cards have Philly, Cubs got LA and we get the Reds. Let's get that lead back, the schedule is in our favor.
the stros are toast Fernandez/Robertson/Redding/Vilone those are the 4 guys we have to depend on for us to win this division...aint happening certainly not with out hitting being in the state it is... Sorry, but I think this team is finished, we have no pitching, only TB and Cinci have starters with less IP than us.
Bigg is done. His avg is falling, he strikes out way too much, doesn't walk enough and can't steal once he gets on...and that's just his offense. Question 1 is why is he leading off. Question 2 is why is he starting. Answers are because we have no one else are pathetic? Going after Lofton and Benson sounds real good about now.
The good news is, the Cubs are facing the Dodgers in their next 3 game series, and we have the Reds, who we absolutely own. The Dodgers sweeping the Cubs is definitely in the realm of possibility given that their pitching is so tough. We could easily be back with a 3 game lead against the Cubs, and given the fact that we close out our series against them at home right after the Dodgers series, we have a very good shot at winning. I was getting just as frustrated with this team this series as much as the next guy. But I saw a lot of deep fly balls that would of been homeruns had the wind not been blowing in. The fact of the matter is, when this teams not belting homeruns out of the park, they're not going to win. And as good as the Cubs pitching staff is, the wind and their ballpark saved them this series. I counted a large number of balls that were absolutely crushed only to fall short at the warning track. If the wind had been blowing out or simply not at all, we might be looking at a different series right now. The other good news is. The next time we face the Cubs, they will of used Estes, Prior, Wood, leaving our series opener with them against Zambrano, Clement, and Estes. They're weakest pitchers. So even if we do end up losing in the first game to Zambrano, you can bet we'll be rocking Clement and Estes the following two games. These next six games we could easily go and win 5 of 6 or all 6. As for St.Louis, they have a 3 game series with the Wild Card contending Phillies on the road. The Phillies are a very capable team that could beat out St.Louis and win their series against them. So all and all, by the start of next week, we could be back with a 2 or 3 game lead. Realistically though, our schedule right now isn't what worries me. The final two series of the season which I think are against the Giants and Braves are. But hey, assuming we get hot at the right time, and grab some wins against the Giants and Braves, we'll have loads of confidence facing either team come playoff time, assuming we make it.
i think i heard the cubs have an off-day where they will try to skip estes and pitch prior, wood, and clemente against us. as long as we don't face zambrano it's alright.
