The ability to read balls off the bat, and run good routes to the ball. I don't know how Pence is at either of those things considering I barely get to watch a Stros game. WillyT was bad mouthed for taking poor routes to balls and not making the right read so he could get a good jump on the ball. I feel optimistic about our ability to play better. We just need a better bullpen right now.

I'd probably include that in the same category as being able to catch the ball. I seem to recall it being discussed that Pence doesn't have the best routes, but that his speed more than makes up for it; and this was when he was in center. So that would become less of a problem now that he's in right.

Limited sample size & all, but he's looked a lot better in right. He has a lot more experience there, too.

We are on a nice little run right now. Hopefully it continues and soon we can call ourself "contenders." To contend all year we need some more pitching, but it would be nice to see us on top of the NL Central sometime this season. Preferably at the end of the season.

Contender or not, I'm just happy to watch the Astros put some runs on the board semi-consistently. So much fun to watch
