CUBS LOSE! If we go 4 - 4 the rest of the way, then the Cubs will have to go 6 - 1 the rest of the way to win it. I like our chances now.
Berkman single, Chavez single and Everett drives in Lance with a double. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out for the Stros. Cubs up 3-0.
Hey... I keep telling people... don't count Lance out on his right-handed bat. It can only get better... HR Berkman to deep deep center... 3-0 Astros.
What a horrible base running decision by Everett. Sigh. Looks like we are going to end the day only .5 game up.
Crap..6-4 Stl...barring an Astros comeback (plse, pse, plse!!), they'll drop this one...and if you think about it, they could've easily swept the Card this series...if not for Kent's error last night and J Rob's meltdown today, it would've been in the bag. Oh well, we'll still be up a game on the Cubs w/ 7 to go. That's still good. Up a game in the loss column...that's all that matters now.
Man I thought we signed Kent to be the clutch player on this team we needed. His defense was sub par and his hitting definitely wasn't timely.
We need Uprising to do his thing and get the Astros up off the ground against the Giants. Rise up stros!!
Well, I did like our chances . Now, I'm back to being not so sure again. Per Adam Everett's base running...that was just plain dumb trying to take third with 2 outs and down by 2. Did the third base coach make that call to bring Adam to third? Of course, if it works and the guy on first steals second to be followed by a base hit to drive them both in...then it's sheer ingenuity. But, I don't like those odds. I think we would have had better odds to have 2 consecutive hits to drive in the 2 baserunners. I've got a bad feeling. Villone better come to pitch tonight dammit. If we can't drive this thing home at home with the games remaining, then we are forever doomed to mediocrity.
well i was just watching sportscenter and they had Peter Gammons on and he said the Astros were going to win the division and were very dangerous in the playoffs. He said Oswalt and Miller are peaking at the right time. Gammons usually knows what he's talking about so hopefully he's right.
