I've never seen a game where all these moves actually work: 1.) Intentionally walking half the team. 2.) Using a fifth infielder to cut off the run at home plate. Amazing game.
I'm kind of glad I'm not getting this game on TV. I would be freaking out. Best I can do is Yahoo! delayed updates. Go Stros!
We need a blowout win tomorrow to give our core relievers a day off tomorrow, and Robertson to go atleast 7 or 8 innings, otherwise we're not in good shape when the SF series comes up. Here's to hoping the Cubs lose tonight.
Back on todays game. I'm amazed the game went on as long as it did considering how bad our pitching was with our relievers. It seemed as though we needed slim chance after slim chance of bases loaded outs to keep the game tied for so long. I was hoping when Pujols came up to bat, we were going to intentionally walk him, and I kept thinking in my head if Miceli throws that same pitch twice Pujols lights are going to grow big and he'll belt one deep. Sure enough Miceli tried the same curve twice in the same spot and Pujols belted it deep. This loss was probably the toughest loss to witness due to the fact that our big 3 relievers are exhausted. Lidge went one inning after going an inning the previous night before, Dotel went 2 innings, and Wagner went 2 innings after doing an inning the previous night before. I kept hoping Kent would pull through and make up for his error and put up another RBI, but he choked big time tonight. Sadly that one grounder through his legs cost us the game, our relievers stamina, and the momentum for the time being. I hope tonight the Astros are furious about the loss and come out strong and with a vengeance tomorrow and blow the Cards out of the water. I want Robertson to pitch 7 or 8 solid innings of good ball while doing it on a low pitch count so we can save our worn out relievers for the Giants game. The sad thing about tonights game that even hurts worse was the fact that Redding pitched yet another quality game and had no compensation for it. He's like Holt in 98' when the high scoring Astros couldn't hit worth **** and get the guy wins.
when the astros loaded the bases up and Bagwell struck out, i had a bad feeling it was going to be one of those games. When they got into extra innings i knew they were going to lose. It seems like 90% of the time they end up losing it after 9. With all that being said, tomorrow i think they'll come out swinging, and put at least 5 runs on the board. looks like the cubs will lose tonight so still 1 1/2 up in the central.
