This is a very exciting/entertaining game. Wow. One of the best I have seen in a while. What a good hussle by bags.
They mentioned this on the broadcast and I was somewhat stunned and amazed at the season that Edgar Renteria is having. If he can reach 200 Hits and 100 RBI, he will be the first National League shortstop since 1908 when Honus Wagner had 201 Hits and 109 RBI. Here is his line for that season: .354 AVG 151 Games 568 AB 100 Runs 201 Hits 39 Doubles 19 Triples 10 HR 109 RBI 54 BB .415 OBP .542 SLG .957 OPS Here is Renteria's current stats: .333 AVG 150 Games 562 AB 90 Runs 187 Hits 45 Doubles 1 Triple 13 HR 96 RBI 61 BB .395 OBP .486 SLG .881 OPS Not really that far off from one of the grestest players of all time. Now Renteria will have to get on a little bit of a terror to reach 200 Hits, but if he can, this will be one of the greatest seasons by a National League SS in history. I'm impressed
If you could imagine there was a certain set of posters here in the past that declared Julio Lugo a superior shortstop to Edgar Renteria. Believe it or not...

This was a huge win game for the Astros! This was so clutch! can they preform like this in the playoffs? damn they have me believing! Bagwell is DA MAN! "Bagwell has 20 homers since the All-Star break, tied for the most in the majors with Philadelphia's Jim Thome. Bagwell has 418 homers, moving ahead of Frank Thomas for 32nd on the career list, after connecting in consecutive games for the ninth time this season. " http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=230919124 And this guy is a freaking pitching marvel
from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch "With a resounding "Uncle!" the Cardinals lost 8-1 to the National League Central leading Houston Astros before 38,997 at Busch Stadium on Friday." The writer refers to the Astros as "The surging Spacemen" and "the Colt .45s" "The Astros added two more in the second. Richard Hidalgo, aka "Senor September," pounded his 28th home run into the left-field seats. Hidalgo is batting .382 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 19 runs batted in since Aug. 21. A career .380 hitter during this month, he is a big reason the Astronauts have taken off to win 12 of their past 15 and 17 of 24." "Mike Matheny followed with a single off the glove of the diving Bagwell. But when Perez tried to score, Hidalgo was having none of it. The right fielder barehanded the ball and threw a strike to home to retire Perez. The outfield assist was a major league-leading 22nd for Hidalgo.
