either way...ATL lost last night. we're 4.5 off the WC right now. whoever is on top of the WC at the moment is who I'm concerned with.

no way ATl wins the division. The Nats are gonna surge again, getting so many players back/for the first time. church, johnson, wilson, stanton.. pitching has been pretty consistent

Wow. Each of our starters has an ERA a full run lower than his matchup. That's how good our top 3 are.

DID YOU KNOW.....Washington is LAST in MLB in runs scored??? Dead last!!!

Remember at the beginning of the season when we debated whether or not a team could win consistently when they could not score runs effectively. We pulled up some years past where teams with great pitching and average hitting won consistently. The Nats and the 'stros are bearing that out this season. Pitching is at a premium for a reason.

Meanwhile...the mighty Reds are 2nd in the NL in runs scored.

Keep in mind, over the next month, Atlanta will be getting their top 3 starters (Hampton, Hudson, and Thomson) and their second best hitter (Chipper Jones) back as well.

I do remember that...good timing to bring that one up, cause I had forgotten but it's more pertinent now ;) I like! But wow, didn't know the Nats were at the bottom of the whole freakin league..

and keep in mind that DC has won a TON of one-run games. that eventually catches up with you....usually.

Good point, but a couple of Atl's young guys that might get bumped were doing pretty well as it is.. Hudson was having consistency issues somewhat before the injury--I think they'll need him back to his 'stud' status from Oakland if they want a chance at winning the div.

edit: I think Chipper will have a really good 2nd half, though

I'm waiting on an e-mail back from a friend to see if he's going to be drinking tonight. If he is, I'll be going out to Katy for all-you-can-eat catfish then watching the game recorded at his place. If not, I'll let you know.

BTW, this Washington/Atlanta debate is meaningless. We'll have a better record than both of them before Ms. Brinlee becomes Ms. RM95.

Yep Cordero has been huge for them (and my fantasy team), they just lost Junior Spivey for what may be the rest of the season. Not a huge loss I suppose....

Atlanta will be in first place by the end of the month. The Nationals will have to play the Astros, Braves, and Marlins this month. The braves will over take the Nats when they play each other. The Braves are also getting more players healthy. Wilson is hitting .225 away from Coors field and Stanton was cut by the Yankees because he was not performing well.

Damnit, I can't see this game. And then I'm off to College Station tomorow so I'll miss that game! ARGH!

Anyone in the SugarLand area interested and heading out to watch the game? I wonder if they have a decent sports bar in that Town Center building. All these new big buildings in Sugarland...man it looks so different since I last lived here.
