Makes him much more valuable. Budget teams can afford to trade for them, and he isn't just a 2 month rental. He's still under club control for 2011. Not to mention the guy isn't young.
You have to factor in significant raises for Wandy, Bourn, Keppinger, Lindstrom and Hunter Pence unless any or all of them stink it up. Plus you have a mutual option on Bret Meyers for 8 million, and a 15 million option on Berkman. If you brought all of these guys back you're looking at about $75-$80 million before you add 2B,3B, and fill out the roster.
When you have a man on 2nd with no outs and the heart of your order due up, there is a pretty high expectancy that you will score a run..... for most teams.
Of all people to earn a walk, it's Humberto Quintero. He went like 2 months last season without a walk and has a hideous walk rate for his career.
Let's see if they can strand Bourn again after another leadoff hit. Edit: He got himself out this time. Picked off.
These guys don't even look like they care any more. Pence took what appeared to be a low strike 2 call and didn't even look upset about it.
I feel bad for Brad Mills. I hope he gets a fair shake with a respectable product on the field at some point during his tenure here. When the opponents top 3 in the lineup start 6/6, you aren't in for a good day. This is similar to what Renteria and the Giants top of the order did to us.
