My bad then... Brad probably made the mistake of overestimating Strickland's fastball. He's not Roy Oswalt (who threw them BY Sanders several times last night). Hell... he's not even Russ Springer.

Well Major, since you asked, I would throw them until he quit swinging at them......

Here is an idea, chum.....why don't you ask Brad Lidge that question..?

Brad Lidge also throws a high 90s fastball to compliment the slider.

    Perfect pitch-calling there by Brad.

    Now that I agree with.

    :)

However, he stunk against Sanders and it cost us a 3 run bomb.....

Oh well, maybe next time he will call more sliders....

    :)

All the more reason to throw a slider instead of a high 80s fastball.

Whatever, I just commented that Ausmus' pitch calling stunk against Sanders......and it did.....doesn't mean I hate the guy.......

If Brad Lidge only throws sliders, his career in MLB will be very shortly. Fortunately, he doesn't. The only pitch that you can by with as a one-pitch pitcher is a very good fastball.

As for Strickland, the reason pitchers mix up pitches is that batters start looking for pitches. If he threw a 3rd straight slider, and Sanders hit it out of the park, people would have said "why would you throw the same pitch three times in a row?" The whole point of pitching is to mix up what you're doing.

Sorry, I assumed you could grasp that we were talking pitching strategy. My bad.

I guess you are right though, I mean Ausmus made a good call and Sanders hit it out....heck....if that is the kind of Strategy you think works, then root for the Cardinals.

    ;)

    LOL!!! Take that Edmonds.

Hurts wrist diving for a ball, runs into a wall, and now jumping out of the way of a pitch. :D

Edmonds dropped his bat every swing he took too. He is hurting. Hope they take him out.

Philies up 10-6 bottom of the 8th.
