Yea... Why did Bill Brown say "blomb"???

Looks like Carpenter is giving it up so he can really rip into Reggie Sanders after this inning. That was a pretty "loafing" effort by Sanders on the ball (that probably would have dropped anyways, but he still gave up on it way too early).

That might have some sense, except Carpenter has the Cy Young to fight for. This is a crucial game for him.

Ugh... does Backe just think every other pitcher is just as feeble with the bat as he is good?

Now, its the same situation it was in the 3rd inning...

Well, at least we know that Carp won't be pitching a complete game... but Backe needs to bear down and at least prevent them from taking the lead back this inning.

Oh jeez... here goes Garner with his "must have gallo face every lefty in a crucial situation" fix.

Backe has done a good job of battling tonight, despite not having good control. He's induced grounder after grounder in these situations tonight (the last one being a liner/grounder by pujols)... but obviously Garner is thinking that Backe's "luck" is about to run out.

This seems awfully lot like a Jimy Williams pitching move... trying to prevent the screw-up before it ever possibly happens (when in reality, you may be setting yourself up for failure both in this game, and in future games because of your bullpen usage).
