Berkman rips a double into the left field corner. Nice to see his bat come alive

According to my buddy who is a sports editor at TV Guide, they scheduled the off day in case opening day fell in cold weather, sort of like a snow day.

I meant one-year wonder in terms of being really really good vs. below-par/average. But, I didn't remember that he has two really good years already, so I stand corrected.

Way to go Dalgy. Batting in two runs, Bagwell and Lance. I think it was a double.

    4-2 Astros

Work let me go early(woohoo!) so I am catching more of this game.

Hidalgo just scored to make it 5-2. We are hitting the lights out of the ball. Sweet!

Thank God for the Astros ...

With such a great game today, I might even be able to avoid popping a blood vessel during the Rockets game tonight :)

Typical Bagwell, hitting a grand slam when nothing was on the line. ;)

Stros are looking good. It's going to be a fun year.

A few more pitiful performances like that from Jarad Fernandez, who put managment in a tight position when it came to finalizing the bullpen roster by stating he would not accept going back to the minors, and the sooner Brandon Backe, a galveston native, takes his place.

sometimes the ball just doesn't knuckle. Blame it on physics, maybe.

Duckworth, on the other hand, has no excuses.

Yeah, but throughout spring I was rooting for the local guy to make it. Backe had a real good spring and seems to have better bullpen stuff than Fernandez. I have no doubt he will be called up to replace someone real soon.

Yeah, Fernandez hasn't had it in his outings and Backe could be good enough to be our 7th inning set up man for Lidge and Dotel. Miceli in that role scares me...
