Yeah, while winning that Cy Young last season he looked terrible. He has had an injured riddled bad season, but otherwise he's been exactly what they paid for.
Another good game. I think moving forward he needs to be an 85 pitch guy. He was really laboring in that 6th inning, basically just throwing the ball at the plate. Had a similar issue in his first outing. It would obviously be nice to get that extra inning, but just take the win.
When I was a freshman or sophomore in college a few of us were all really drunk and saw Lisa Loeb perform at a small club - which was odd because she was at the peak of her fame. We pushed our way to the front and I remember that she was wearing a skirt and she didn't wear any panties. I just stared at her shaved snatch for the like 30 minutes she performed. I was smitten for like a week.
It seems a lot of people were wrong about this trade, at least at the moment. We probably did overpay because it's a rental, but if he continues pitching like this, we won the trade easily.
The story we didn’t know we needed, but now we have it.l Just like I never intentionally tried to memorize the words to that song… but 30 years later, and one “YOU SAY” gets mentioned, and that song is fully stuck in my head with every exact lyric intact. “I don’t listen hard, I don’t pay attention to the distance that you’re running… from anyone anywhere… I don’t understand if you really care, I’m only hearing negative no no no…bad” I can only take this torture every 4th day if they win. Then, like I said earlier, it’s kitschy.
If he pitches well for the rest of the season, and Houston still doesn’t make the playoffs, the Astros will still “lose” the trade imho. Assuming Loperfido and Bloss are fringe core pieces, Kikuchi will have to pitch well AND help Houston win at least one playoff series for it to be worthwhile.
And they would have the inside track on retaining him (if they wanted to). Insurance covers LMJ’s contract would free up some $$$.
Not that high on any of the pieces we gave up to be honest. Bloss looked terrible. Not worried about Seattle. I think we’re gonna win the division.
5 innings plus of 2 run baseball. I'll take it. Soon enough he'll be able to stretch things out to 6 innings. I'm really happy that he's not been a 5.00 ERA guy. Of course I was down on the trade and so far so good it looks like I may have been have been wrong.
I've been impressed, but I'm not calling the trade a success if they only get two months out of him before signing elsewhere (unless they win the WS)
Bloss is young. He has major league stuff. He's just not ready yet. He's really the only one we lost. Loperfido is a dime a dozen type guy
Already in PostSeason form in early August, I see? We will all tell our grandchildren what it was like to post in the age of @Nook - a truly generational talent!
It's so weird that the organization knows a thing or two about pitch usage and we have guys like Montero decide to go off script all the time. Just throw the pitch that comes over the pitchcom.
It would not surprise me if You Say stays in Houston after this year because of Caratini and finding success. GM D.Brown made this.
