is Sarfate in the deal or not?
patton was average at best... declining stuff already.
albers was never going anywhere... attitude showed with inconsistency.

i just dont like giving up a lot of pitching for a declining guy that will be in the mitchell report.

And Berkman is actually pretty good at 1B. Not sure about Towles, but I think it's Ausmus' main job to tutor him well. Add in Everett at 2B and it's a great defensive team.

I think I'd rather play Tejada at short and keep Wigginton at 3B, and see what we can get for Everett. Yes, our defense will be weaker, but I don't think Tejada is a HUGE upgrade offensively over Wigginton.

I like the trade and I think another one is coming.

I truly believe that they have already spoken with Tejeda and asked him about 3B or they would not have done this deal. With the addition of his bat and keeping Everett at SS, your Offense and Defense will be strong. When you add in Matsui's range and Bourne's defense, the pitching will be better. Make another trade for an innings eater pitcher and we got us a team that can win the Central and once you get in the playoffs, anything can happen.

And if he does play SS then it is an obvious upgrade offensively at a position of glaring weakness. Remember that Tejeda was 7th in zone rating last year. Its not like he is "stone-hands" out there.

Everrett is as good as gone. Wade thanked him for all he's done. Considering making Everrett a FA as a none tender

Did I hear that right they will let Adam Everett be a unrestriced free agent?

    New lineup per Wade:

    CF Bourn
    2b Matsui
    SS Tejada
    1b Berkman
    LF Lee
    RF Pence
    3b Wigginton
    C Towles

This team will have a case of the runs!

With a trade like that, you have to imagine Wade is confidant that he can fill out a lot of roster spots with scrap parts: Yordany Ramirez, Cheito, Ryan Houston, Wesley Wright, Geoff Geary, Reggie Abercrombie.

I don't know how we're going to get pitching now. Burke is the only decent trade piece left; Everett will likely be non-tendered.

In the grand scheme of things I don't think we gave up much, but with Miggy we might not be getting much (production-wise and/or steroid-wise).

There is no guarantee Everett will be the same defensive player he was.

(can't believe I missed Justice this morning, he was probably in hundred different directions)

And 18th in range factor. He's sure handed, he just doesn't have SS range.

I totally agree, with Tejada at short (which it sounds like he will play) and Wig at 3rd we are above average at every position on offense and then some for some positions. Also, if Towles can produce decent numbers we could have a very solid 1-8.
