Matsui and Bourn are an upgrade on both offense and defensive from the previous lineup. Matsui is better than Biggio and Bourn in CF is better than Scott in RF. They may not be all-stars but we have 3 other multi-time allstars and a budding one in Pence.

Even if Wiggy is avg. what are you complaining about? I think almost any team in the NL would take his numbers from the 7 hole.

While I actually think our team OBP will be higher than .340, .340 is not a bad OBP. I don't know why you don't think its respectable but it would have put us firmly in the top half of all major league teams and a few pts higher would put us in the top third.

True....but I would take an undefeated run through the National League playoffs any year.....I think people were expecting the Astros to be able to get Tejada for Burke, Everett and a pitcher....but c'mon...Tejada is a stud....Albers and Patton are decent pitching prospects...but Luke was never going to be a part of this team and Costanzo was labeled a K artist.....I bet we go with Jennings and Lieber and we sign Ron Mahay

Sarcasm. I don't expect the Astros to think about trading him until trading deadline 2009 if the Astros are out of playoff chase at that time.

The Rockies also went on an unbelievable run. Also, if my memory serves me correctly, their team hit pretty poorly in the postseason but their pitching stepped up big time.

Maybe so. It just struck me as staggeringly ironic that he cleaned house on the farm after all the talk of needing to build it back up. Are they going to have tryouts in Corpus? Perhaps fat 40-year-olds might have a shot at 1B or LF. :D

The Rockies led the NL in OBP in 2007.

I have to admit, I too turned off the feed 5 minutes after the press conference. That had to be the worst 5 minutes of radio I have ever heard. First those guys treat that show like it is a morning show on a Top 40 station. They kept going on like we had just traded the second coming of Cy Young for the second coming of Cy Sperling. What made it really funny is that they started talking about the starting rotation and how next year it is going to be so much worse without Patton and to a certain extent Albers. Yeah a guy with a couple of starts and a guy that is 4-13 w/ a 5.37 are automatically going to be way better than anything else the Astros can put in there. Down the road maybe (if Patton pans out) but they were talking strictly next season. And not even considering the possibility that the Astros could make other moves. It just made my ears bleed.

What makes it all the worse is "J-money" acting like he is a respected baseball analyst and that their are thousands of "monsters" across Houston who would die to be like him.

Wow, Ensberg was the most inconsistent player of all time. Lee and Tejada are two of the most consistent players(numbers and games played) in the past 10 years. while I definitely agree that they could have down years and anything can happen, I also will go with my faith in two of the most consistent players I have ever witnessed. You have Berkman, Lee, and Tejada in the lineup so you have to assume they will at least perform at their very worst season at the very least.

I love this trade, we got an all star player for marginal pieces.

    Way to go Wade !

hearing them say J-Money makes me vomit. i literally vomit.

lopez isn't REMOTELY objective about the 'stros. he called Drayton a racist for not serving Hispanics in the community better years ago...and he hasn't given the 'stros the benefit of the doubt since.

I know what you mean. The J-Money thing makes my head hurt. Then he acts like he is some fly, street smart, lady killer who is "in" with all the right people and such. ARGH! The only thing worse than his personality on air is the things he actually says.

The minor league system doesn't sell tickets, All-Stars do!

I don't get it (and this isn't spefically directed to you MSN) but when Drayton doesn't spend money we complain...when he does...we complain about how he spends it.

    I'm excited.

Do it in their "lightning round" where a bunch of idiots call in and say something that is either not creative or impossible to understand and then listen to them go OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH like they just heard the best one line ever.

    Seriously.

A call will be something like "Texans rule and the Cowboys can suck on deez nutz!!!!" And they'll go crazy like the call was dripping with awesomeness.

Sigh. I wish 610 would have something other than Rome on during the afternoon.
